Season 8, Episode 3: On Prince Edward Island, Shirley Dugay's disappearance becomes a homicide thanks to a strand of white cat hair linked to her ex-partner, Douglas Bimish. Forensic science achieves a milestone with the first feline DNA profile in legal history to convict him. In Mansfield, Ohio, Dr John Boyle buries his wife Norin Boyle under concrete in the basement of their new home in Erie, Pennsylvania, but Larry Pisatelli's microscopic analysis of the concrete incriminates him. Finally, in Harrison County, Missouri, violent John Middleton murders Alfred Pinaker, and the fringes of a leather jacket and a plastic watch with fibres from Middleton's truck tie up the loose ends, with analysis by Kathine Green and Jenny Smith.

The New Detectives is an American docudrama in which renowned criminal investigators and forensic experts solve a variety of interesting cases.

FINALLY, a cat, not a dog, helps catch a criminal. Good job, Inspector Beans.

That grandmother in the second case was disgusting. What a loathesome piece of humanity.

The police department should adopt that beautiful cat and give this kitty hero the best life ever.

How a father wouldn't report his daughter missing is beyond me (1st case). Glad that some cat hair sealed the ex's involvement in poor Shirley's murder.

That's a new take on "the cat is out of the bag".

The doctor had to be pretty smart to have that level of professional respect, he also had to be pretty stupid to kill his wife and bury her in his house basement.

The narrator is saying .. "they need an eye witness, of physical evidence, directly linking him to the homicide" ... after they Find her body buried in his own basement in Pennsylvania ?? Wow ... you got to be kidding.

Those who kill their partners don't love their children either. They leave them to their own fate.

I know the Snowball case, this was the one my college used to introduce new students to the forensic science major 😊.

Second case is sickening. Investigators had to prove the concrete was the same even though they found the body in his new house 200 miles away, bought and signed by him and his pregnant girlfriend. Ohhh, and only 20 years for a brutal, premeditated murder??? I guess because he's considered a "doctor" he gets special treatment! What about "mom" lying/covering up for him. I'm sorry for his children.
