Dear Father Moses, I wanted to tell you something.
A few days ago, you uploaded a video about difficult relationships with parents, and I left a comment about my difficult situation with my parents and asked you to pray for me. You and many Orthodox brothers and sisters responded.
The day after that, my mother suddenly appeared at my house and told me she needed to see me. We were able to talk and reconcile.
Glory to God, and thank you so much for your kind message and prayers. I will always be grateful.❤

"I am not a functional person without Christ."

This. This right here sums me up to my absolute maximum.

As a very confused Protestant right now, this hits right on the head.

im taking my Family to an Serbian Orthodox Church ☦️ ⛪️ for our very 1st time tomorrow, ⏲️ LORD JESUS CHRIST SON OF GOD, HAVE MERCY ON ME A SINNER.

“So much sludge in my soul” Lord have mercy that hit so hard father

Same thing. I thought for over a decade Protestantism was healing me. When we did Bible study, I felt good. I filled my time more with studying the Bible than drinking. Which led to me being a better husband and father because I was getting truth and... Well... Not drinking. 😅

But I found myself constantly falling into the same issues. Pride (unbeknownst to me), rationalism (making my faith about how well I knew Scripture instead of praying), I would fall back into drinking because I was doing it less so I said, "well, I'm getting better. This is ok." I would still get angry quickly at my neighbors.

When one issue was healed, another took its place or returned.

I remember wanting to "debate" an Orthodox priest. He looked at me dead in the eye and said, "you know what? I bet you do know Scripture better than me." I was vindicated!
... Until he asked me, "how much do you pray?" My answer was "before meals, bed, and just small talks to God throughout the day.

He said "when you pray as much and as deeply as you read Scripture, come back." It changed my world. Became Orthodox in a year.

We serve a Perfectly Perfect God who works all thing for the good of those called according to His purpose.

Orthodox Christianity has literally saved my soul by getting me back to God. I was atheist since age 12, now I'm 43, and finding God for the first time. I never cried.....ever...now I cry daily from being so blessed and thankful for having Christ in my soul. Its truly the only church to know God completely. The music is unreal and so beautiful as well.

I can't function without Christ either.

I deleted all my porn literally 2 minutes ago, and now this video pops up on my home page. Amazing. We moving forward, lads!

I thirst for more. I feel unquenchable.

As a Serbian Orthodox Christian born and raised. Let me say how grateful I am to have been born into this faith rather than have had to walk through fire and hell just to find it, like some of my brothers and sisters in the comments. I sincere respect for the struggles many of you have went through to find this level of faith in Christ. May he bless you all!

I am Russian Orthodox Christian and the minute you mention Saint Seraphim, I got tears in my eyes! Thank you for telling your story! 🙏💟

I just looked up the Bethel Boys Academy that existed in Lucedale, Mississippi... the stories of abuse, terror, and neglect that came out of that place are absolutely horrifying. That the state sanctioned this, fully aware of what was happening there, is pure criminal negligence and highlights just how broken and dysfunctional our social system can be for any young person who goes off the tracks.

To say the least, you have my sympathies, Fr. Moses.

Father Moses your testimony is exactly mine. Every single thing you said.
I found my way to Orthodox Christianity through you thank you

You’ve convinced me to join Orthodoxy. My time as a Protestant has not felt fulfilling, but when I went to an Orthodox Church I felt a new spark I’ve never felt before.

I’m meeting with a priest tomorrow afternoon, thank you.

3:53 “other people can live without Christ and function properly, I am not one of those people, I cannot function properly in life without Him” I’ve said those exact words. Literally. I cannot live without Him. I am ready to take my life without Him. I am so out of control emotionally, so psychologically wounded, so broken without Christ. I went years as an agnostic and I couldn’t shake this voice that told me to go to church. I literally said, “I don’t want to go to church, that’s the last thing I want to do.” But the feeling wouldn’t go away. I still have my days where I don’t feel connected to God and I resort to my self sabotaging behaviors, but he’s in my life, that’s a good start.

I had similar experiences when I encountered Orthodoxy. The teachings, books, saints, and liturgy made an indelible impression, but when you interact with ordinary Orthodox people and even many priests, you find the same problems in life as among Protestants. The same lack of progress. I realized that the most important thing is a deep inner spiritual life. This requires hard work, and any tradition is only a secondary aid in this.

You are so right. Protestantism is inadequate to answer the deep needs of our souls. After 20 years in the evangelical world, I admitted it was essentially bankrupt. I found wholeness only within the Orthodox Church’s tradition and practice. Glory to God!
