ive discovered that there is exactly one (1) kind of family content creator i like, and that's this dad i see on reels sometimes who does not put his kids on the internet at all (no face, no voice, nothing), and instead reenacts things as his 2 kids. not only is it more ethical but it turns out nothing is funnier than a grown man earnestly doing an impression of a toddler lmfao

If you're too young to make an account, you're too young to be featured.

The scariest part is as a child I would watch family channels and I used to think this is normal. So not only does this feed the creeps, it essentially teaches the children that watch that this is both normal and okay.

Dancers/gymnasts are always sexualized it’s so nasty. I remember growing up in that community and I still struggle with detaching my self worth from my looks/flexibility/sexuality

you forgot the van life people who wont stop having kids because more kids equals more chaos and content. no privacy for those kids.

I used to watch Jordan’s videos, but it started to get weird to me bc I noticed how he would always say, “DON’T SHIP MY DAUGHTER! THERE’S NOTHING GOING ON WITH THEM… anyway, come with me as they go on their first date!!”

as a young dancer i was OBSESSED with jordan matter’s pictures and would’ve given up EVERYTHING to be photographed by him. safe to say there’s a massive power imbalance between him and the kids in his photos and videos.

im pregnant and i already told my husband that our child is never going on the internet until they are old enough to want to. putting your childs face online, especially now is so dangerous and scary.

the solution is way simpler than you're thinking: just demonetize all videos featuring children. all of them.

My mom used to be one of these parents, I stopped living with her in 2021. An experience that sticks with me the hardest is when she got super mad at me that morning, left me alone, and I made chocolate covered strawberries for her at 11. When she walked in she acted excited, and I was so happy to show her. But then she walked back out and closed the door, told me to act like she just walked in, acted happy for the video, and then sat on the couch and edited the video instead of eating the strawberries. I only faced nurture through the screen, when her phone was propped up is when I felt the most loved. It affects a child’s mental health tremendously. I remember jumping on my ankle sideways to try to break it at 7 because I wanted her attention, giving myself a black eye at 6, and breaking my kneecap at 8 by jumping directly on my knee three times is the type of affect I’m talking about. Some people don’t deserve to be parents

I remember once in 2020, I was curled up in a chair crying my eyes out. I was in a very bad spot mentally. I saw out of the corner of my eye my mom pull her phone out and lean over to take a picture. I fell off the chair trying to get away.

I remember that moment so clearly. I was so horrified and felt such a deep sense of betrayal that my mom would see a moment of me in pain and try to take a picture.

I can't imagine how it must have felt growing up with parents doing that 24/7 your entire life. Family bloggers need to be made illegal - now.

Yknow what’s weird? The fact that cameras are allowed in the drs office/hospital. That is such an invasion of privacy

The fact there are actual children watching this and enjoying it without knowing how creepy it is is so sad

You KNOW the iceberg is horrible if the sexualization of children is the first point he makes

Fun fact about the photo of the sailor kissing a woman he made those kids recreate, is that the original kiss wasn’t consensual either. She was a married woman who had no idea who that man was, he just grabbed her and kissed her. It was super gross and weird then, but somehow, someone made it worse….. I hate the YouTube censoring. An ASMRist I watch got her video taken down for scratching on her shirt (a shirt that wasn’t tight or revealing, literally just a Graphic Tee) but there are LITERAL PREDATORS watching people  abuse children for money and YouTube does nothing to stop this from happening. Disgusting.

Jordan matter got punched one time in NYC bc some random drunk guy saw him taking pictures of young girls in public and assumed he was a trafficker.

EDIT: Damn, unfortunately I misremembered, and he was just pushed/shoved. But the confrontation is still satisfying. You can find the video on YouTube!

I am a therapist and I really have to applaud your take on this. These dynamics are so damaging to children and it makes me so sad. It is wild to me that this content is so normalized and no one seems to call it what it is- exploitation and abuse.

6:15 these are fourth graders like 9 year olds who are just learning how to multiply 2 digit numbers what the actual fuck is wrong with this guy

Kids aren’t content. Parents not caring how incredibly dangerous it is to put their kids on the internet are choosing popularity and money over their children’s safety. The willful ignorance is disgusting.

41:31 "she's not having a childhood, she's having a performance of a childhood" yes!!! that's it exactly!
