I was expecting Rick to have a tattoo that said "open the door or you die".

The fact he never asked how the prisoner gets water or food. Why he never made the obvious choice of calling the police. Why offer a beer in the middle of nowhere as he said. So many red flags. Why he pretended to leave but he is still there. Why no birds answered back to the whistle etc.

I absolutely loved this! The actors were very good! The whole time I'm thinking, "That dude is crazy! Why doesn't he just leave"?? Also, where was he getting his food, etc. However, at the end, we find out Elon had a right to be afraid. Rick having something tattooed on his arm to "follow the line" was brilliant. If he had any doubt before, he didn't after he saw what happened to Elon. Also, his manipulation tactic had to be on point in order to get Elon to open the door so that he could continue following the line. This was really thought-provoking!

Wow! One of the best psychological thrillers I have ever watched. It seems the story is as simple as many are interpreting - a person feeling trapped and unwilling to make a change - but thats not what this story is about. Its about the innate selfish nature of a human being to serve their own purpose at the cost of others. Until the end it seemed Rick was just trying to help Elon. But at the end its revealed that Rick himself had a tattoo, which was different from Elon, saying follow the line or die. And that line was passing through that bunker. So Rick had to go through that bunker, no other choice, and thats the whole reason he manipulated (not motivated) Elon the whole time to step out. As per instructions, Elon did die once he opened. And if you notice, Rick took the key from his hand, walked the line across the room, and opened the other end door with that key, and stayed alive. Really brilliantly portrayed.

You all don't get it. Once Rick heard about the tattoo, he encouraged Alon to exit the bunker. Hello was testing if the tattoos spoke the truth. If Alon had lived, then Rick would also be free to step off the line, but he died. So Rick is now a prisoner to the line on the floor.

Years ago, I mean decades, there was a film about people being trapped in a cubicle. Hundreds of cubicles actually. But the viewer didn't know that until the end. One person finally managed to escape out of a square opening, only to see he was suspended in a vast structure, the giant cubicle with all those other people trapped within individual cubicles was hanging in mid-air with perhaps hundreds of feet in the four directions; sideways, up, down. Really creepy!

I think this is an allusion to how a person closes themselves off from the world after some trauma, and doesn't want to change or accept anything from the outside.
They have the key, but don't want to leave because any change feels like death.

Odd that they never covered how he is getting food or where he craps. He should have wondered why Rick never asked him how he is being fed or getting water. It does not cross his mind that Rick doesn't seem to wonder that

Sort of reminds me of how we as people serve a purpose. Many of us don't know anything outside of our conditioning. Some of us are here to survive this experience, while others are here to destroy our experience.

At least that's just a small % of the people who live on this planet.

I am reminded of a situation where a person grows up in a cult and/or high demand religion. I watched a video about some Amish teenagers who left their communities because they wanted to see the world outside, but many were unable to cope with the culture shock and some became drug addicted and some died and some returned to their home. They were so defenseless in the outside world. Many were victimized and abused especially sexually. They were so innocent.

Jan 2026... I have just finished watching. So very good and compelling!! Made me ask:.....
What does living actually mean? Whether our prisons are of the mind or erected in stone and steel, what does it mean to be alive? What about risk? What about straying from the path? Which is more true and valuable-- living locked away and constrained to follow a rigid line...or to be free, even for just a moment? Do we follow our own counsel or allow ourselves to be led by externally imposed limits? We each have our own truth to explore and we each get to decide.
