Timeline: day 1 is the day he went to see the general. He gets tased. Day 2 he wakes up on the base and is introduced to the squad. Day 3 is the day he dies and absorbs the mimic’s blood, which sends him back to the morning of the previous day. Day 2 he wakes up on the bags, goes to Rita, and they recruit the squad. They fly to Paris, he kills the Omega and absorbs its blood as he dies, and he resets back to the beginning of the previous day, which is the morning of day 1. That’s why he’s back on the helicopter going to his meeting with the general. He and the omega died the night of day 2, which would reset to the morning of day 1.  My question is how does anyone on day 1 know about the explosion in Paris, which doesn’t actually happen until the night of day 2? That part is crazy. Great reaction!

The reset in the end was different because it happened at the night before the day of the battle, where Cage died always. He died earlier, he woke up earlier. That's all. Love ya! 😘

This is based on a Japanese light novel (then manga) titled 'All You Need Is Kill. ' They eventually made an anime and released it the beginning of this year. My son and I saw it in theater and loved it!

This movie was elevated by having Tom Cruise in it, not because he's necessarily the best actor/action star or anything but because when they started production properly they were going to do it in mostly CGI and he insisted on having the exo skeletons they're wearing be practical, among other things, and that helps make this movie memorable and makes it still hold up.

This movie came out of nowhere for me. When I first saw it I knew absolutely nothing other than it had Tom Cruise, and it blew me away. Fantastic fun, Groundhog Day meets Independence Day

According to a quick search, there are 26 on screen loop resets, with hundreds to thousands implied. But in the book, All You Need Is Kill, there are explicitly 160 loops.

Operation Downfall was the name for the invasion of Japan, which was to be in two phases: Operation Olympic and Coronet. They estimated 10 million casualties and 1 million deaths. All Purple Hearts given out today were made in preparation for the invasion.

Great movie, one of the things that sticks in my mind about it is Verdun, how they used that city as the place Rita got her power and where a battle took place. Verdun was a fortress city during world war 1 and the site of a battle which lasted over nine months, the place was seriously fought over during that war and here it is again during another war.

The one and only Bill Paxton is probably my favorite character in this movie.  He is too good.

This movie is the perfect example of how fumbling the marketing can screw you’re movie. The posters and ads had the tag line “live. die. repeat” so half the world thought that was the movie title. It hurt the box office due to the confusion. Bummer because it was a great flick.
