What’s it like eating at a Texas highway buffet?

In this video we’re eating at Sam's Original Restaurant, a Texas buffet institution that’s all you can eat of the most classic American food for $19.49.

To make things more fun I decided to try everything on the menu for today and rate all of them to find out which food is the best to eat.

The problem with mark everything he eats is amazing, he never criticizes anything . He's never eaten bad food in his life .

I live in the Houston area, and have family in DFW. When we visit, we always stop at Sam's. At 71 ,I no longer hit the buffet. I could put the hurt on 'em when I was a young man, however. You never mentioned it, but they offer a regullar menu in addition to the buffet. Their food quality goes way beyond most buffets I've seen in my life. Good review.

With Mark, the hot sauce is the main meal.
The food is just the condiments.

We use to stop and eat there all the time. It became a meeting point for my neice and nephew to be picked up by Nanna and Pappa for them to stay with them. Always been great food!!

The feeling I get watching this video must be the feeling other cultures get when YouTubers review the food they grew up with. Mark is talking about things I grew up on: chicken fried steak, fried catfish, fried chicken, broccoli cheese casserole, brisket, pinto beans, corn bread, various pies. It’s like he just loaded up with all the stuff we used to eat at my grandma’s house.

I watch your videos to dream of other places- as a native Texan, this is hilarious :))
Yeah that’s meatloaf, that chicken fried steak gravy should have gone on the mashed potatoes, and I’m a coconut cream pie girl forever and ever 🥰 so funny. My mom always made both chocolate and coconut pies for me and my brother.

Also yall out there- don’t turn down these green beans. We do overcook them, but usually we use bacon grease and pieces of bacon in them. They’re delectable.. and terrible for you haha. We grew them fresh in the garden, cooked them down in bacon fat, and man oh man. Could eat a whole bowl.

We live very close to Fairfield. We go to Sam's on special occasions. The staff are always friendly, genuine and take pride in everything they do. We have never had a bad meal. The food is tasty, the hot is hot and the cold is cold. The desserts are addicting. The pickled veggies are off the chain tasty and crispy.

I REALLY like how he gave everything a score. Mark usually doesn't voice any displeasure or dissatisfaction with any food unless it's really bad, so it's hard to gauge if the food isn't that good. But while he holds back with his words, he doesn't hold back with his scores, it gives a MUCH BETTER picture if he wasn't as satisfied with the food. He should keep this scoring practice on future videos so we get a better picture of when he is not as satisfied, because he always looks satisfied otherwise.
