If you're going to live in the same place for the medium to long term, owning a home will be cheaper, but if your family structure or income fluctuates, or if your location changes, renting will be cheaper. 買うとすれば子供が出て行ってから都会の2DKのマンションを買うとかであればいいかなと思います。
賃貸派、持家派の判断は年齢と共に見直して判断した方が良いと思います。
中古物件は購入後のメンテ費が結構かかるので、最低でも1千万円くらいの補修予算を残して置いた方が良いです。
中古でリノベーションはいいですね。勉強になります。これからは賃貸で暮らすひとが増えるのかな。お金以外で言うと持ち家は、安心感はありますね。失業やリストラあっても自宅はあるから。
