I finally feel like I’m learning chess again. After struggling with information overload and trying to figure out how to improve at chess on my own, I decided to start working with a chess coach....and it’s already changing how I approach the game.
For one of the coolest coaches out there:

As an adult chess player working my way toward 1500 Elo (ultimately 2000), I’ve consumed a ton of chess content: openings, tactics, strategy, positional chess, game analysis, and improvement advice. But eventually, having more information didn’t make me a better chess player. It just gave me more things to think about during my games.
That’s where having a chess coach started to make a difference.
In this episode of Road to 1500, I’m beginning to organize everything I’ve learned, simplify my chess, and focus on the things that actually matter for improving at my rating.
I’m still going to make mistakes. I’m still going to blunder. And I definitely don’t have chess figured out.
But for the first time in a while, I feel like I’m actually learning again.
If you’re a beginner or intermediate chess player trying to improve your rating (an adult wondering how to get better at chess without drowning in information) follow along as I document the wins, losses, blunders, breakthroughs, and lessons on my journey.
