While I totally understand the decision to strip out the radio features, this would've been the coolest thing ever in the 80s.

I love the colorways for the Micro-Change version. It takes me back to 1985, when I visited family in Tokyo and he gave me the microscope robo as a gift. Over the month or so I was there, I started at the insert *constantly*. Looking at MC-21 takes me back to where I can remember how the air felt, the sounds of the city outside, and the feelings of wanting to get that and that specifically so bad.

They were able to make an AM radio this small back in 1974!
That's crazy and the whole thing must have cost a fortune back then.

I like how even the stock photos of Blaster show his eject button as broken. 😂

Id have no idea why when I was kid, why I thought the Blaster toy was like the size of a real radio and you could actually play real cassettes with it. This amazed me lol

@impossiblepie 2 years ago

That's pretty cool no idea it was an actual tape deck.

When Blaster first came out in the United states, I was around 10 years old. I begged and pleaded my folks to get me one. Would you believe it was only $20?!? Of course $20 was a lot of money back then.

i still have my original blaster from when I was a kid. just found it at my parents house a couple weeks ago. the tape deck doesnt work anymore. and it doesnt stay shut. it had some super old tape on it to hold the tape deck shut lol.

My first transformer was skywarp back in 1985 and my second one was omega supreme and I remember that it was $85.00 and my mother worked overtime to buy it for me for Christmas and I still have them both today along with several others ❤

Some of the micro change that didn't make the cut was a pair of working binoculars

I always wondered why blasters gun had a hole in the middle of the gun now it all makes perfect sense to me and I have two blasters one original and one that came out a few years ago that is blue in color ❤

Wow I didn't know about blasters history! I wish they kept the functionality of the orginal toy

I would absolutely love it if SNOOP-DOGG played blaster in future transformers movies he’d be so amazing, I would love to see how incredible it can be

I had a knockoff that included the am radio

In Japan, there was a chance that Transformers would be seen as simply a repackaged version of the Spy Changers and Diaclone's Car Robots, so it was unclear whether it would be a success.

So the first priority was to make it affordable and popular, and the MC12 model was released.

In fact, the MC13 was expensive even in the US at the time, right?

Hasbro just made a choice.
And that's all they did.
Don't forget.

It was already released in Japan as the MC13A.N.C.L.E set, so people who already had the MC13 didn't feel the need to go out of their way to buy the MC13 type Megatron.

I have been buying almost nothing but Blaster for most of the summer. Both the toon G1 reissue and the Studio 86. This is a timely video for sure.

Imagine using Blaster to listen to BC Ferries schedules…

I'm holding my Original G1 Blaster in my hand right now and looking at him as if he betrayed me. Seeing the headphones fit into the gun feels like an age-old question to my life's story has been answered.
