I have the exact same vanquish model paired with blue current 85tz 3-21g for a year now. Bought for perch and Zander fishing or surprise pike as they are in same waters.

I had the surprise to test it with a 24lbs mirror carp on the line hooked in the tail. The fight was insane and both the rod and reel performed amazingly, I somehow manage to pull the fish in in just 8 minutes.

I just got back from japan where I bought a custom rod and reel outfit from premier custom rod maker Master Shitu Kinsu. It’s a beautiful blue pearl with gold and silver wraps. The reel was 100% custom made with each and every piece individually CNC machined of a special alloy developed by NASA (whoops I meant Starlink). It has 53 bearings. It’s a size 2415.967. It needs to be rebuilt after every trip. Went out yesterday and got skunked but if you coulda just seen the look of jealousy on the faces of my fishing buddy ‘s faces. If ya know ya know.

I have this Calcutta Conquest on backorder for inshore saltwater use. Quite robust and appropriate for saltwater. Low, medium, high nomenclature is light years better than the previous cryptic names. It has gotten great reviews by superb saltwater users. I have the the new Vanquish 2500SHGC 5.8:1. It is superb. Kudos to Shimano. Shimano really needs a G Loomis NRX+ hard plastic jerkbait rod.

Like a lot of tangible things, some people purchase items for "prestige and admiration" . They will defend their purchase even though they feel it might not have been worth it but the price paid for the feeling of "prestige and admiration" was definitely worth it.

Re the Vanquish model ID, the C denotes compact (same frame size as 2500), the S denotes shallow spool.

One super tailored application of the 2000 compact HG vanquish is mountain stream fishing for trout. Super finesse with an UL or SUL rod would be perfect

I love the vanquish... Shimano Japan described it as the top of line for MGL and light reels where Stella is the top of line for CoreSolid series for power. Wish i could afford an Exist 😂 the double handle is great for anything where you are consistently reeling because the weight of single handle isn't whipping around. You can tell a difference when you give it a rip!

I have the vanquish on a med poison ultima and it's the lightest, best feeling spinning combo I've ever felt, then again it should be for how much I have in it! But it's worth every penny!

I still have 2 of the Spirex Dual Handled reels from the early 90’s I bought for my wife at the time 😮 I have just kept them super clean for taking kids out fishing 🎣…… no comparison no doubt, but, Shimano nailed the Vanquish for several techniques and certainly a prize possession for those who can afford them….. the looks also matches the quality 💯🤩💯 gorgeous work Shimano and I love your breakdown HookUp 🫡✊🤩

I have the new sustain fk paired with a gloomis imx rod. Combo is super light and balanced! Love this combo and i can throw lures 4 hours straight without issues
