I've been working on a mod to give everyone a whole lot of new and more difficult (mostly) starts in space engineers, the mod will be out soon but for now enjoy my pain as I discover just how impossible some of them might be :D

Drops heavy shell in ship because he doesn’t need it. Finds out cockpit has controll of the ship. Moves ship around and flys to asteroid with loose shell clanging around inside the ship. playing high explosive roulette, classic Splitse

I love being able to have a different random ship at the start.
It's like new game+ or Fallout / Skyrim Alternate Start mods.
You can pretend you woke up after some jump accident / combat encounter that left you alive and your ship damaged.
The half destroyed Big Red ship start as okay, but after starting in it a couple times I wanted to start in something else.
Glad you are working on this mod, Looking forward to seeing it in the workshop!

Splitsie: It’s no fun if progression isn’t on
Also Splitsie: immediately forgets and almost vents his entire oxygen supply

@matts5066 11 months ago

The lesson to be learned at 3:30 isn't "no drill". It's "put your drill in a position where you can use it while keeping your oxygen farm fully lighted."

I like the idea of a “random situation” start. Ready, Set, Survive!

@sergiomuzychuk5537 11 months ago

" Oh, iam dressed as Capac" .....So thats true, theory that Splitsie and Capac is they same person seems to be not an theory at all, but reality.

The comedic timing @32:48 couldn't have been better. 🤣 As to what you were talking about then, yeah, randomized progression would be an absolute nightmare, can't build control seats, refineries or food processor until you build your first jump drive, enjoy! 👍As to did keen retrofit the old encounter ships? No, that survival kit was always there, it did get reorientated/flipped weird from some older update ages ago, same on the skyheart.

It makes sense that the relay has no motors as it has no moving parts. No doors, no conveyors or blocks that use them, no rotors, hinges or pistons and no gyro. If you are going to modify the blueprint, adding a gyro makes the most sense thematically as relay's need those (or thrusters) to re-orient themselves.

@jaishaw6977 11 months ago

That satellite should have a gyro so it can rotate and point at whatever it is meant to point at.

I was amused by the talk of the General Rule that "If it's small & bright don't touch". Is a good rule, but I think it's kinda superseded by the General Rule that "In Australia everything will kill you" (or so I've heard... never been there).

@FeeDaFox 11 months ago

Yeah Kiwi's do Daylight savings it's annoying at times. Also you can tell a Australian and a Kiwi from the rest of the world by the way they treat Marmite and Vegemite

What about adding something to the spawn mechanics, where the player spawns with one O2 tank, and meals enough to survive for that duration? Either in their own inventory, or say a "lifebouy" spawns nearby, completely neutral and "anyone can use", based on one of the signal spawns, basically a small cargo and fixed items instead of the random stuff.

@foamyflightmaster9385 11 months ago

I like this random start idea a lot, makes for a very interesting challenge

@nathanchristopher8585 11 months ago

I will be ALL OVER this mod when you release it

@zeroh62 11 months ago

I love that mod!
What if u add more factors
like "has crashed into rock yes/no" or "has crashed into other ship yes/no" or "are you a former prisoner so will the turrets shoot you yes/no"
