i find asmr to be inherently intimate a lot of the time so I can see the crossover. But its definitely in poor taste to try to manipulate someone without them realizing what they're doing.
There are forums out there of men discussing these requests and how they will "turn" ASMR artists from regular content to NSFW, like a "we're almost there boys, I finally got X to do Y in a custom". It's gross. It's one thing for women to say they are comfortable making custom requests of any kind for a fee, but sometimes the money just isn't worth it.
I have this sneaking suspicion that at least part if the reason they ask non-NSFW creators is the ingrained misogyny of 'pure' women vs the 'harlot' who is an open and out NSFW creator who 'does it for anyone'. It's an inherent toxic standard and projection of some kind of ownership over the SFW creator they get to do it for them, while maintaining that image of being a 'good and pure' woman for all others.
Boy, do i ever hate today's society and want it to stop. I'm real tired, boss.
hey girl! I don’t comment on a ton of vids but wanted to give you props for making this vid, calling out creeps in the comments and trying to give a few wise words to younger or less experienced creators. It’s never not disappointing to hear that creators have to go through this.
On a separate note, if you’re in a fantasy football league again this year, I’d love to hear about it in future vids. Hang in there!
I think many men especially like the nonconsensual part of it. Asking a girl who is feeling at ease with doing special videos doesn’t have the same effect on them than tricking or disturbing a girl.
Girl, this is so true. My channel is tiny, like really tiny, and I've already gotten requests that are just slightly off and uncomfortable. And it's always men making these requests. The part that always gets me too is the fact that they ask non-NSFW creators on purpose. It's part of the f*tish.
People always make the joke of "you cant ever miss someones first asmr video" and its really true. Ive been put onto so many good low sub count channels and so many of them quit asmr due to this exact reason. Its so unfortunate for me as a listener, and them as a creator, it ruins their chance to have a creative career or even a good side hustle that doesnt involve nsfw content.
@18:00 years ago, I remember coming across a channel where some commenters were requesting a girl to say "calm for me" and "gum in my mouth". I think you know what that sounds like, obviously. unfortunately I don't think english was her native language so she thought they were innocent requests and made quite a few of them. was really sad
thank you for calling this out! if i can recall Rapunzel ASMR has talked about this a while back and called it "fetish mining," which sounds pretty apt to me. what makes it so sinister is how many minors are in the asmr space getting targeted by creeps who know exactly what they're doing. imo the constant insistence by the ASMR community that "ASMR is strictly SFW and never sexual" actually backfires because it makes people afraid to talk about boundaries, which just protects the predators instead of the creators.
Thank you for also including examples. So often as women we're afraid to say the things we "shouldnt say" or afraid to use names/examples but nope we have to stand up for ourselves no matter what.
8:48 i saw this EXACT comment on a video of a young girl who was maybe 10 years old and the poor thing actually made the video - I had to comment telling her to take it down for her own safety/speak to an adult in her life about it as I obviously couldn't explain to her why it was creepy! It absolutely turned my stomach, the guy was so specific about 'use your whole hands not just your fingertips' it was sickening. I reported his comment but YouTube doesn't do anything. So glad to see someone talking about this!!
As someone who has been in the adult industry, you’re 100% correct & I’ve noticed the same thing. There’s also subreddits that men post asmrtists that they have a thing for, and the poor girls probably have no clue 😢
it’s kind of strange, but this type of issue has weirdly made me appreciate when people actually specify in their emails, ‘this is nsfw content, so if that’s not something you’re comfortable with…’ rather than trying to disguise it as something innocent. i really appreciate you talking about this,, it’s actually a huge problem. i get tons of emails each week asking for the most specific, seemingly ‘innocent’ requests… and you’re right…i can only imagine what these people are sending to creators who are minors,, disgusting.
A creator I really like, Bipasha ASMR, recently shared her experience with this. The entire video made me so so sad. She blamed herself a lot and it just made me so mad for her. I hate that this is happening 😢
I feel so bad because I see it all the time. there was a girl who was underage mic pumping. I commented how it wasn’t ok and I was treated like the pervert for suggesting it wasn’t just a trigger like bffr. Her channel is now deleted, poor thing. But there are now dedicated fanpages reuploading her videos. It goes to show how this stuff can stick around
