In July 2007, the "Letter of Ten Academicians" was published, signed, among others, by Nobel laureates Vitaly Ginzburg and Zhores Alferov. The scientists spoke out against the increasing clericalization of society and warned of the possible negative consequences of substituting a religious view of the world for a scientific one. In particular, they opposed the introduction of the fundamentals of Orthodox culture in schools and the recognition of theology as a scientific specialty.
Anyone has the right to believe in God, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or the resurrection of the dead, but let's separate science from personal convictions, the scientific method from personal experience of faith, and the self-reflection of the church from physics, chemistry, biology, and history. Encouraging irrationality will not lead to anything good, and has not.
In this new video, I summarize the accumulated arguments against the scientific nature of theology and examine the fallacies of popular theses in its defense.
