The mod map having the same gun means that it will likely look exactly like that in the Boneworks campaign as mods use a spawnable placer. The gun isn't exported with the mod itself. It's already in the games files. (This seems to be the case, especially since you can't see the utility gun in BW, but you can in BL)
The lighting changes aren't the only problem. The entire art style of the game is not only different, but it's just Bonelab now. It went from a unique, special thing to just being Bonelab. This also doesn't make sense given the context of the game.
The main menu is also proof of this- the map appears to be much more foggy and cartoony like it is in Bonelab, which doesn't make sense given how Bonework's handles itself.
A change in Unity versions does not mean the games needed to look the same. They use the same interaction engine, but the visuals could've been whatever they wanted them to be. It's just Unity.
These all result in other problems that I didn't fully dive into, but to name a few likely pain points we now have-
- Bonelab strength being too overpowered
- Levels designed for the old weaker Ford now having a much more powerful character breaks some segments
- Live action cutscenes will look out of place with a less realistic art style
- No more of the much loved chromatic aberration in spec cam (instead way too much bloom)
- Special Boneworks things (like despawning the monkey cryptid making a special sound) will likely be missing since we're seemingly just using Bonelab as a base
- Bad gun recoil
Overall, it feels sort of like half life source.
We also are potentially not getting any new features. IOBT could very well not even be here because the Unity version didn't update like they said it should. Transferable mods doesn't seem like a feature implemented, it seems like a bi-product of just making this a sort of Bonelab mod instead of its own game.
I should probably do a scripted video delving into these things as at a glance, it totally can seem like I'm complaining about minor things, but these minor things have major implications that are pretty much confirmed by this clip. This is hardly speculation, this is pretty much full confirmation, and they even said it's in a "near shippable state".
