Try Tarr Steps, a Neolithic stone bridge fording the river, just a couple of miles away (turn left at the top of the main street, towards Lynton, and follow the signs)!
Exford and Simonsbath are other beautiful Exmoor villages that are worth a visit.
Another is Waterrow, on the main road between Bampton and Wiveliscombe, is worth wandering around.
