He is the only guitarist who I could literally listen too and watch all day and never get tired of it. Absolute legend SRV!

Dude played the thickest strings possible and there are vids on YT of people commenting on how they tried to play his guitar. One guy said it was like trying to play railroad tracks for strings. He’d play so hard w those strings he’d tear his fingertip calluses off- and then superglue his fingertips back on. He’s actually using Jimi’s wah wah pedal to get that cool sound early in the song. His brother got it in a trade when Jimi’s wasn’t working and SRV’s brother Jimmie (great guitarist in his own right) gave Jimi one that worked in trade for Jimi’s malfunctioning pedal. If you want to see something INCREDIBLE and beautiful, react to SRV and his older brother Jimmie playing ‘Pipeline’ 2/28/87. Please do it- it’s ridiculous. Jimmie was SRVs hero and his first and biggest inspiration as a guitar player. It’ll blow your mind, that video. Thanks for another SRV reaction. Another excellent vid is SRV Sound Check 1986. Swag is off the chart. It’s ridiculous. Cheers

I love the younger generation discover Stevie. It's a shame he died so young but his legacy lives on with future generations like you guys. Keep watching all SRV's videos.
SRV = The G.O.A.T.

He band is just as good as him. Listen to the drums and that bass. Top notch.

Chris Layton on drums. Reese Wynans on keys. Tommy Shannon (who played with Johnnie Winter at Woodstock) on bass.

Here is one for you to check out it is his guitar sound check video and just remember it is a sound check not a concert

Pay attention to his walk off…that is the epitome of Cool!

You have to see
SRV "Life without you" live at the capitol theater!!!!
He plays with his teeth!!!

The man had hands of steel, and his guitar tone is such a benchmark of hot-rodded Texas blues flavor.  When I was enjoying Eric Clapton, I got introduced to SRV, and that was blues on steroids. Hail the Texas Blues GOAT

Stevie didn't play guitar, he was actually possessed by it and the guitar played him

There’s a video of Stevie and his brother Jimmie (who’s a great player in his own right and inspired SRV to pick up the guitar) both playing a double neck guitar. They switch fretboards and everything. Absolutely insane clip if y’all wanna check it out

One of his best original songs is Life Without You. SRV wrote it about the passing of a friend. I highly recommend his performance of that song at the Capitol Theater, 1985.

About the “born to it” thing. Look he was crazy talented, no question. And I grew up playing metal/country/blues/southern rock in various gigs around DFW and even in Austin a little bit. I was 17 when SRV died and I know nothing first hand about him, but….

I grew up around folks who did know him. Who had pictures of themselves on stage with him and Jimmy both. And they all said the same thing, all he did was play guitar. He practiced an insane amount every day, and basically lived like a wanderer just laying his head where he could and playing guitar.

So yeah, insane talent

And he worked harder than anyone else. There’s just no short cuts.

So I have way more respect for how hard he worked than his talent. Cuz there’s literally more than a handful of SRV guys walking this good earth right now, but they don’t work like he did so we have never heard of them.

By all means big up the talent, but respect the work. 👊😎

The most amazing thing for me is that SRV was just an amazing human being.  He revered the best and in return they honored him. There is an old video of him playing with Stevie Wonder and Salt-n-Pepa.  Give it a look

The original Voodoo Chile (c-h-i-l-e, the old southern pronunciation of child) was recorded and released in 1968. The song was inspired by Muddy Water's song Rolling Stone. Thanks for the reaction, guys.

When SRV was just a kid his idol was Jimi Hendrix, when Jimi passed Stevie was a young teen. Stevie asked Jimi’s Dad if he would mind if he did a few covers.
Later Stevie had all of Jimi’s work Remastered and he gifted the Hendrix family with all of the Rights and Proceeds 😢❤

He was adjusting his pedal each time he bent down. Great reaction. ❤

Thanks for the reaction. SRV was the G.O.A.T for sure. Double Trouble his backing band was great as well. SRV never played the same song the same way twice he left the music flow out of him. So Double Trouble had to watch and follow his lead. Can't miss with SRV .

SRV was obviously very inspired by Jimi Hendrix.  You should also check out the original, long version of  Jimi's song;  "Voodoo Chile", (not Voodoo Child which you've already heard); it's track #4 on Electric Ladyland; 14 min. of pure fire!

kill switch is how hes doing that one part.  if you wanna see somebody do more stuff like that, check out buckethead jordan live at the culture room, BH has a killswitch built directly into his guitar.
