Being a bit cautious, I decided to brake early, because I knew the brakes were dodgy at speed, and thank the lord I did. When I jumped hard on the brake pedal, it made SFA difference, and I knew we were in trouble.
We finally got it to the point that we were just short of rear-ending the car in front, but there was no room for complacency, and I had to keep the pedal down until we got into the suburbs.
Before we stopped to let the brakes cool, the front passenger and I wound down our windows (it was a 2-door), kept them down all the way home. We didn't think to stop at a petrol station to wash out our jocks. I don't know what my mates did, but I washed mine in the dunny when I got home. 💩😳
