The fact Abel didn’t win a Grammy in 2020-2021 for this masterpiece still pisses me off till this very day!… "After Hours" ~ As the consequences catch up with The Weeknd. He’s reached the height of chaos, losing himself in addiction, reckless relationships, and existential despair. Songs like “Faith” and "Too Late" reveal the toll of his lifestyle and The Weeknd persona's ultimate impact on Abel, who seems to hover between life and death. The album is a reflection of The Weeknd's self-destruction, bringing Abel to his lowest point. This is the darkest chapter yet within the final Trilogy, where The Weeknd succeeds in leading Abel towards metaphorical (or literal) death, leaving him at a crossroads with no way to return from his vices. To summarize the entire album in one quote... "You can find love, fear, friends, enemies, violence, dancing, sex, demons, angels, loneliness, and togetherness all in the after hours of the night". After Hours is The Weeknd's fourth studio album, released on March 20, 2020 by XO and Republic Records. The album's production was primarily handled by The Weeknd alongside a variety of producers, including DaHeala, Illangelo, Max Martin, Metro Boomin, and OPN, most of whom The Weeknd had worked with previously.⏰🩸🚬(My absolute favorite song Abel has ever made "Faith" ~ Is arguably the most important song in Abel's entire body of work because it represents a moment of complete emotional, spiritual, and personal collapse. It sets the foundation for the themes of redemption, spirituality, and personal growth that follow in "Dawn FM" and "Hurry Up Tomorrow". This track encapsulates the tension between self-destruction and salvation, a tension that is at the heart of The Weeknd’s ongoing narrative. Whether he will find redemption or continue to wrestle with his demons is something that future projects reveal, but without "Faith," the stakes for his salvation wouldn’t be as high. The song stands as the turning point, making it crucial for understanding where The Weeknd's artistic journey might go next.)

What I love about Heartless is how it completely flips the tone of the album. It starts off sad and apologetic, but then Heartless hits—and suddenly, he's back to being this cold, toxic version of himself. But the thing is, it doesn't feel real. The instrumental and lyrics make it seem like he's putting on a mask, pretending to be that person again. It feels fake, like he's forcing it. I’ve never seen an artist use contrast like that in an album—it’s such a unique take.

The editing is insane on this channel 😂

a content reactor with an actual personality. I love your channel!

34:19 "Never need a b*tch im what a b*tch needs" in Heartless is meant to mirror the line in Snowchild where he says "She never need a man she's what a man need".

It basically sums up how he gets back to his old ways of being toxic after trying to be better but then you get to the 2nd part of Escape from LA everything goes downhill.

22:31 Cali WAS the mission is a call back to a line in a song called The Morning on his very first project, House Of Balloons, where he says Cali IS the mission.

Him using it here on this album is like a full circle moment.

react to the album my dear melancoly

Abel’s best album. Argue with the wall.

LMAO OD reactions always gets me. That was so funny.  Loved your reactions and edits. Think you definitely have a talent for comic actor.

41:48 "I'll choose vegas if they offered heaven's gate" is another reference to a song of his called Heaven or Las Vegas. Its on his 2nd project called Thursday. The whole song is basically about him choosing a life of abusing drugs, lust and all the things that come with fame (Las Vegas) over a normal life (Heaven).

Another great reaction, i love that you pay attention and break down his lyrics. Hope you react to House of Balloons and the rest of that trilogy as well

Oh, the hold this album had on me over quarantine I actually miss it

girl the editing on this is hysterical 😭😭 love ur vibe

I really need to listen to his albums cause his voice sounds like an ANGELL even though his songs are creepy AF 😂 and some are like I wanna get up and dance like a maniac! I listened to some of the songs from Hurry up Tomorrow and I really like Cry for me!

For this album the only songs I know are Heartless, Blinding lights, & Save your tears! And also the remix with Ariana Grande is so good! OMMGG they ate that UP!

This is Abel's best album my Top 3 are forever and always 1) After Hours 2) Kiss Land 3) Hurry Up Tomorrow Please do all the After Hours Music Videos & Performances in chronological order for the storyline there should be a playlist that’s provided somewhere on YouTube etc. cuz they’re all GAS!😮‍💨💯

What makes this album such a masterpiece is the fact that each song serves a bigger narrative. The opening track "Alone Again"  finds The Weeknd in Vegas afraid to be alone because he fears overdosing by himself. After this we take a jump back in time and from "Too Late" to "Escape From LA, we are taken through a series of past memories ranging from a failed relationship to observations about his childhood and rise to fame in "Snowchild".  The present picks back up in "Heartless" where we find The Weeknd partying hard and telling himself that he's heartless but it's just a mask to cope with pain. "Faith" see's The Weeknd suffer an overdose like he feared in "Alone Again" and he ends up in the back of an ambulance or police car as he's driven through Vegas to the hospital which transitions straight into "Blinding Lights" which documents his desire to stay alive and return to the one he loves. He's still knocked out for the next two tracks "In Your Eyes" and "Save Your Tears" where he continues to have fantasies about his past love and it's interesting that Blinding Lights to Save Your Tears is the only part of the album where the production feels somewhat hopeful and upbeat, lending further credibility that he was in a state of Unconsciousness during that time. He wakes back up after being revived in "Repeat After Me" and tries to convince himself his past love doesn't have real feelings for her new partner and "After Hours" is about him pleading to have her back in his mind but this time the production is extremely bleak and desperate because he's not in a drugged out fantasy. The album concludes with "Until I Bleed Out" and it's a song about utter hopelessness and it won't be till Dawn FM album when he starts reflecting and trying to find a way to heal himself. Something to keep in mind about all this I mentioned is that The Weeknd is a highly dramatized fictional character that is inspired by certain aspects of Abel's life or experiences and so the lyrics and themes should never be taken too literally as we don't know what's true his real life or just the narrative of an album.

These girl missed my dear malancholy😢...you definitely loved it cant deny🎉

Your reaction faith (especially the OD lines) was so funny to me as someone who’s absolutely in love with this song and kinda relates to it😭 most accurate reaction to faith I’ve ever seen

the effort you put into editing is not going unnoticed at all and I hope you know that it’s worth every second you spend on it, I enjoyed the hell out of the whole video and I was engaged the ENTIRE time :)
