Part four of a series on opening and hand mining my quartz reef in the Victorian Goldfields.  In this video I find several nice gold specimens and some little 'nuggets' in the solid quartz.

It's been a while since my last video, mainly due to the fact I've been breaking out tons of barren waste rock and making this mine bigger and hopefully getting closer to a lot of good gold! I've also been scoping out a lot of sites to explore and share with you all plus it's been really cold and wet! ;-)

I'm using hand tools and a Minelab SDC2300 metal detector for finding the gold. The left over quartz will be crushed and processed to extract the fine gold, that will be another video ;-)

Most of the gold here is small but it is bright and high purity gold plus it's quite crystalline and a few of the ones found show crystal faces on some sides, really good looking gold specimens.

Also found is several irridecent, rainbow goethite specimens, this is a very common mineral species normally seen as a black coating on quartz but very rarely found with the rainbow effect in these goldfields.  More info on it here https://www.mindat.org/min-1719.html

If you'd like to add any of the specimens found to your collection and really help me to make more videos you can find them here https://billingmetals.com.au/collecti...
