ROUTE DESCRIPTION:
The route begins in the Piani di Praglia area on the border between Piedmont and Liguria (provinces of Genoa and Alessandria), near the Capanne di Marcarolo Natural Park.
The starting point can be reached from the Polcevera Valley, ascending from Campomorone and Ceranesi. In this case, the starting point is about 1 km after the "La Chelina" restaurant (where there is a parking area opposite the dirt road at the start of the route), or from the Stura Valley, then from Masone and Campoligure.
The route is almost flat for over 1.5 km on a wide dirt road, after which it descends along a path to the lake.
Lago du Manzù (also known as Sutta u Manzu) is a small lake along the Stura River with crystal-clear waters and a waterfall.
Following the stream bed, you can also reach Lake Pignattin if you wish. There's no clearly defined path connecting the two lakes, so you'll need to follow the stream and wade through it frequently.
This short hike, suitable for everyone, takes about 2 hours (round trip).
