For someone who has lived and worked in most of the towns listed here for most of my life, and is happily retired in one of them, small town BC offers lots of opportunity to those who hate big cities, and want to build a life for themselves.

The 2nd house mentioned, the one in Prince George, is on Oak street in a high crime neighbourhood known as 'The Hood'. I noticed what looked like gang graffiti in the basement. That's not an automatic nope, a co-worker bought the clubhouse of an outlaw biker gang with few issues, but the Hood is street gangs. I would check into the history of that court order before even looking inside.

Enjoying life in Mackenzie BC - moved here a couple of years ago from the Lower Mainland - cheap houses ( 3 bdrm <$170k), fibre optic internet from City West, nice people, beautiful nature - you've got everything you need here. More people should move here!!

Old town Quesnel is lovely. I don’t care for the newer part so much but the older part of town on the river is really nice.

I've been binge-watching your videos... thankyou, quite the range. From someone who is not trying to sell, but just showing us houses 'out there', you've been doing a fair amount of work. Most appreciated. I enjoy looking at 'alternative houses', just for the fun that's in it... so far, I've not been entranced enough to get up and move - but my renovator mind thinks "Oh, I could fix that up something lovely"... but I'm too near EOL to do much!

Have a look at Port Alice BC on north Vancouver island. Relatively low real estate prices. We bought a 3 bd 1780, sq ft townhouse for 195k. No crime here, excellent local water, ocean views, but it does have loggers who love to cut down trees.

I enjoyed the video but as a family man in my 40's with a career and no property it was depressing. I currently live in a small town in BC and here, the house prices are similar to all towns/cities in the lower mainland. 800k-1M+. The nearest hospital is 40 minutes away. Same for police. Rent is on an extortion level but I'd consider myself lucky paying just over 2k a month for 2 bed 1 bath.
