Many dogs react this way because a lot of vets clip into the quick of the nails which is painful. I stopped having the vet clip my dog's nails. I do it home by myself just a little at a time over a few sessions and she's perfectly calm.
My vet told me when giving pills, shove it in the mouth, and immediately blow a sharp puff of air in the dog's face. They swallow on reflex. Works every time.😉
The little dog with the cone on broke my heart with the way it was crying. I think it must have just had surgery and was coming out of the anesthetic. Pitiful 😢
My dog loved the vet and all the people who handled her. I worked with a trainer and the first time I took her to the Vet everyone who came in touch with her gave her a treat and she would sit in the vet’s office staring at the other dogs and how nervous they were. Her vet would kneel on the floor and she would go to her so willingly. Terrible, how they are mishandling these dogs and making it so traumatic.
It is no wonder those poor doggies are screaming! Especially when someone comes at them with those so-called nail "clippers" which do not clip cleanly but pull! I watched a short video on how nail "clippers" work and no one would want them used on them! So, I think it is torturing the poor dogs, and not enough people actually know it yet. Let's face it, if it didn't hurt them, they wouldn't be doing all they can do to get away, snarl and even cry.
