Back then I was racing against Jr online in NASCAR Racing 2 by Papyrus on the Ten (Total Entertainment Network). during the week & weekends when he wasn't at the track He was always humble & down to Earth. I was a fan of his dad first but became a Jr fan from my interactions with him online back then.
No matter what the sponsor title is for the series it's the same series no matter what you name it. So for the people complaining that the earlier wins were Busch not Xfinity. Yes during that time it was sponsored by Busch. Now it's Xfinity so that's what you call it. Same with the cup series. No matter what you name it, it's the same series whether you have Winston, Nextel, Sprint, or monster...it's the same thing
No Xfinity in the 90s; no Nextel, sprint or Monster either. Still have my AC Delco hat from back then in pristine shape. I was at all the Richmond night races.
My dad back in 97-98 wanted to start a guys family weekend, with me, my brother, and my brother n law. Since we lived in Houston, Texas, our first weekend trip was to the NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway, one of the Burton brothers won. We had so much fun. We slowly ended up averaging 10 trips, and 20+ races year...... I had the most fun in my teen years because of it. My brother n law was a huge Mark Martin fan, and following my dad, he was a big Dale Sr fan, I became a fan of both Dale Sr, and Dale Jr, specially since I was at his first cup win. I know he’s married, with a baby girl, and has had some concussions problems, but damn I wish he’d come back!! Either drive for his good buddy Tony Stewart, or the team i would have preferred him to go to after leaving DEI, in RCR! Heck I’d probably would double the races I go to, even if he choose a car from his on stable at JR MOTORSPORTS, and just run xfinity series! I know it’s highly unlikely, but I can dream lol i know he misses it! I can say i was lucky enough to be at all 3 Daytona 500’s, that Sr won in 98, and Jr in 2004, and again in 2014. I really thought he was going to win his last Daytona 500, until he got wrecked out, in 2017. Uhh that one still hurts.
Wins number 8,9,10 were 3 wins in a row from June 5th thru June 27th of 1999 and he attributed practicing on NASCAR Racing 1999 for the help in getting the win at Watkins Glen.
