I'm building a miniature version of Travis Pastrana's Subaru Brataroo or as I call it the Bratajoey, and apparently I decided the sensible thing to do was squeeze a supercharged Kawasaki H2 motorcycle engine into it!
After shaking hands with Travis at Goodwood, we have a deal: if I can get this crazy little machine all the way from my garage in Norway to Pastranaland, he'll drive it. The only problem is, I actually have to build the thing first.
In this episode, we're getting serious about the chassis fabrication, welding the roll cage, building custom engine mounts and trying to make an outrageously powerful motorcycle engine fit into a tiny race truck. As you might expect, absolutely nothing is straightforward, and every solution seems to create another expensive problem.
With a ridiculous amount of time, money and questionable decision-making already invested, I'm starting to wonder whether I've bitten off more than I can chew.
But we're too far in to quit now. The dream is still to get this mini Subaru Brataroo finished, shipped to America and into the hands of Travis Pastrana.
Welcome to Garage Avenger, where we build ridiculous machines and figure out whether they were a good idea afterwards.
