How Ace personally and professionally changed my life. Oct. 31, 1978 (Halloween afternoon) I'm 13 years old and my father took me to a guitar store in Oklahoma City to get my first guitar. I was a huge Ace fan, and all I really prayed for from my dad was a cheap Les Paul copy (Sunburst...like Ace), probably $100 at best.

The kid at the guitar store, probably 18-19 years old, long blonde hair, talked my dad into getting me a real Gibson Les Paul, which is still my favorite guitar of the many I've acquired of the years.

Quick fast forward...I ultimately became the Director of Marketing and Social Media for Gibson Guitar (headquartered in Nashville), and got to hang out with Ace, who was so nice and silly and quirky and a total goofball sweetheart with the funniest Bronx voice and laugh. A truly genuine and benevolent soul.

RIP Ace. You totally changed this kid's life.

Man, I do miss this show a lot. I am afraid to say that must've been the last TV show that gave metal heads something to look forward to as far a TV shows for metal/hard rock music went.
