bro played 20 levels of lock and said fuck that lmaoooo

Me every 5 minutes...

"dangit, i wish i had water"
me staring at life tap 😐

This is like and undercover boss episode where the CEO tries cleaning toilets

Drake dog was South Korean. He was THE destro lock back in vanilla. He’s the reason I’m playing a lock

Mages having to level another spec to realize how OP mages actually are is hilarious.

Your will is weak and your understanding incomplete

so i played warlock destro from original launch till wod. roughly 700 days. a lot he talks about is true ofc but some are looked a bit from a weird angle.  so when it comes to fear you now have gotten the conflag slow which we never had in classic, that already will help a ton. you can now slow for 50% of the time which is a massive change. shadowburn no more souls cost is amazing as this was my biggest shard spender as destro since you want to use it on cd and not as a pure finisher. searing pain seems to get a huge push now with decimation and agonizing flame and demonic brand. to the point where i consider putting 30 points only into destro and not get bane of havoc and incinerate but instead play with searing pain and soullink. that means also for that build you dont play with sac but you have instant pet. succubus her biggest flaw was that she was dead when anyone looked at her for 2 seconds and now pets scale with your character, she may does way more damage than before, will die much harder and you also now heal your pet via demonic energies. decimation gives you a 2,4 second soulfire with no shard cost and since your soul fire cd is reduced from 60 to 6 seconds, you can do openers like seduce/soulfire/shadowburn before you even rotate dots and fear and still have a soul fire as a finisher since the 6 seconds cd wont matter. also your souls shard bag now fits into the new bag slot, meaning you dont have to sac 1 bag slot like before.  you barely spend shards on soulfire or shadowburn anymore. you drain souls now can get a shard with every damage tick. so you use less shards than before and get shards easier than before. when it comes to buffing. not every spec wil be a summon to pets order. you dont always have to get a new healthstone, though often ofc. and soul stone has a 30 min cd, you dont have to set one every time unless you only die every 30 minutes. and in bgs you likely wont ever set one on yourself anyways. now also when it comes to pet summons, in later addons when you died in a bg and your pet didnt die before you, you were spawning with your pet at the graveyard. and i bet blizz will do that here too. so in a bgs you will likely not do nearly as much stuff as you mentioned here all the time. a small note to pet behaviour, you can now order her around like in later expansions which really helps with seduction vs opening rogues and such. you can place her away now which makes blinding and kicking her much harder, or even noticing her cast to begin with against less good players.  also a small change blizz made is that now when you fly your pet will never disappear anymore, which makes me lean into the graveyard res of her. your firestone is a weapon buff and wont leave on death. as a mage you have to do some stuff too like buffing yourself and managems etc. so yes warlock can be in situations where preb can take time but depening on the spec or the place you pvp in this can be much much lessen. i most likely forget stuff to mention even but i already wrote a book. many things we dont know yet anyways but as someone that played warlock from the real launch and mostly did pvp all day every day it looks like much less hassle. when classic launched i never even considered playing destro because of the mana and shard hassle. and i cant speak how this will all turn out to be since all classes get changed. but destro is shaping up to be much more fun than it ever was in classic. not as much fun as destro wotlk/cata but still much better than before. also your succubus is invisible, not stealthed. only warlocks can see her until she is active. i have baited players thousands of times into getting seduced over range and then closed the gap. you can seduce players that are so far away they never imagine it happening. most of the time when you die you only buff demon skin,  detect invisibility (to be able to see enemy warlock succubus) and cast hs/sl. thats it. the first soul bag from the succubus quest already gives 14 instead of 12 slots while not taking away a bag slot. so its likely your last souls bag will be rgeater than 32. if you wanted to can equip 2 and would be at the same point where classic warlock was in terms of bags but with 1 extra souls bag. i could see them raise the bag from 32 to 40+. which would mean you can farm them now much faster with the changed drain souls and would have room for 80+ without taking away too much bag space. i hope we get a summoning portal and hs toilet for raids as this would help a lot.

sry for my bad english. not my native tongue

Has he never played a warlock before? Good god he's lucky the level cap was 20 because he'd lose his mind having to actually summon people.

Gonna respond to a few things:

1. Seduce isn't changed, and it's that broken in normal vanilla as well... It does however DR with Fear, and typically if you don't land the kill by Full DR, you die.

2.  The issue with chain seducing is the spell combo system nuke based warlocks use for burst. The crux of it is that for any warlock with conflag, big->short->instant combo involves a short and instant of immolate and conflag. In NORMAL vanilla that's fine, because conflag clears immolate. In this version of the game, it will not, and succubus won't have the glyph to remove dots herself. Meaning you will probably only get one seduce per target, unless you use a less efficient nuke combo off the bat. The trade off, is conflag now also snares (it wouldn't normally). So you are going to transition to kiting based style if they survive the initial burst combo. That part is fine, and probably going to border on downright oppressive, if you are positioning properly.... THAT BEING SAID, normal vanilla damage numbers where also tuned to the point where you could be silenced and rooted in place from a nuke combo, and it still wouldn't matter.... it was largely binary about whether you got the combo off at all, since non crit it was dropping ~60%-90% of a target's health bar with 3 spells.

3. The RANGED change is actually GARGANTUAN, since the destro range talent is now super early in the tree (and thus attainable by demo locks)... BUT ALSO  because it only changes DAMAGE spells. The two most powerful builds for vanilla bgs where NF/Conflag and SM/Ruin specifically because they had 36 yard range on BOTH ATTACKS AND -CURSES-.... It also had more range on Fear, but realistically you wouldn't be close enough to cast fear when positioned properly.

4. The dueling talent setups and the bg talent setups are basically entirely different. Being stuck tethered to a duel flag grossly limits your ability to properly established distance and/or properly kite like you would in a BG. That, and being unable to recoup shards easily are two big factors that always made me hate dueling.

5. In BGs, the only really relevant factor is you positioning to drop nuclear bombs on people from a range where they can't do anything about it. You are losing that via shorter curse range, which WILL suck, but it's not gamebreaking. MOST of the damage you take once you get positioning down is self inflicted via lifetap, and it's not close. I'm talking 90% of teh damage you'll take overall being lifetap. Most of the game you're PvEing on people who have zero opportunity to do anything about it. Ironically, normal vanilla getting both range talents increases your survivability DRAMATICALLY more than soul link would.

6. Sorry to see you leaving the class, but I'm not surprised. Despite being incredibly similar classes on paper, Mage and Lock are (imo) the two MOST DIFFERENT ranged classes in the game playstyle wise..... Ele, Marks, and Shadow all have far more in common with warlock positioning and combo wise, than mage does.  Every single time I try and play a mage for vanilla it just ends up feeling "off" to me. It is what it is.

Personally I think Classic Warlock is my favorite iteration of the class.  So much of the unique utility in classic got increasingly homogenized as the expansions went on.  Drakedog's videos immediately came into my head; he did a particularly excellent job showing how to combo CC/burst with the succubus, and imo showed how warlocks weren't simply spinoff mages.

"Mid range bruiser punching bag"... yes, that's exactly what a Warlock is and they have ALL the tools to do it well. Mage is a spell casting ninja.

now imagine doing this before every single arena match

My first character in vanilla was an undead rogue. Loved it, specially in open world pvp. Then I saw a drake dog video.
Switched mains instantly. My rogue was level 60 for just a couple of days by that time. Made a lock and leveled again and raided/grinded to like rank 11 with it until my pc broke. Lock has always been one of my mains from vanilla up till now because of Drakedog

oh gosh WL isnt the godclass i used to play and fear is so close range and now i roll back to my godclass so i can have fun. what a guy.

Maining lock in classic I literally had to keep soul shards in my bank so if the BG queue popped too quickly I'm not just dead useless

Ayy the drakedog reference

Dude I would love it if they would make soul shards stack to 5.  Omg that would be amazing.

i feel like this is more of a self realization by Venruki than a warlocks aren't good in forever, coz we've always been outranged by hunters and mages and the class prep is standard.

awesome to reference the goat i hope a ton of people start watching his series from the beginning
