My cowboys and indians came in yesterday from Amazon, my wife shot an indian on her first shot with the 499B. She was so happy, she save the indian as a souvenir.
Any difference between a 499a to a 499b? I found a 499a at a thrift market for $8. Refinished the wood and metal. Painted the metal with blue ceracoat. And stained the wood with walnut stain and a tung oil finish. It shoots really good! Thanks for your knowledge!😊
Tom, I’d like to get my old Daisy restored and functional again for my little grandson. He’s only 2 1/2 years old so it will be awhile yet. Anyway, this gun was given to me when I was about 12 years old so it’s about 60 years old-I don’t know if you could even get parts for it now. It look like a 499B; it was s target gun with a rear peep sight and I used the ghost ring in the front sight. It was a very accurate rifle. I shot several bumble bees when they would land long enough to draw a bead on them. It loaded differently tho. You had to unscrew the end of the barrel and pull out the shot tube-at least that’s what I call it-and pull the spring up to the end of the barrel where it would clip into place while you were loading. It held 50 BBs. It no longer shoots, but a BB will roll out of the barrel after cocking it. Is there any hope for this old gun?
I'm a little confused, the conversion rifles are still muzzle loaded and suffer a number of disadvantages the 499 does not -- is there an advantage to the conversion guns over the 499?
