i mean the US uses metric units alot especialy in their schools, they use 9mm, 5,56mm, 7,62mm....

Their money is metric and they don't even know 😂

When you teach the children in school, in about 10 years the whole country can go over to metric easily

The metric system is so easy to use and can be implemented immediately without any complicated conversions, unlike the imperial system, and this makes a huge difference in the accuracy of crucial data.

It's all very simple: the metric system is for the smart ones, the imperial system is for the rest of the Americans who didn't make it into the science classes.

I remember when Australia switched from Imperial to Metric and is was basically a smooth and seamless change. It was an easy change for one reason....we had to do it as the change was mandated by law but it wasn't dropped on us overnight and when the change happened, everyone was expecting it and new exactly what was happening. The US not adopting the metric system stems from their belief that they are the center of the world and everyone should do as they do.....nope....join the rest of the world America.

As long they keep saying 9mm for a handgun, metric is winning. Not even starting about illegal substances still measured in grams, pills in milligrams, beer in fl oz but wine in milliliter.

Nice, I am glad that such a big company is sponsoring you 👍

Another fun one, ordering a meter of beer in a Dutch pub, also standard

Americans , the only people who can understand that there are 100 cents in a dollar, but can't understand that there are 100 centimeters in a meter.

Americans are living in buble. It is simple as that and it is not only about metric system.

To me, as a metric European (LOL), it is very bizarre that TV appliances are sold in Europe with completely incomprehensible screen measurements. I still have no clue what a 56-inch screen means. Yes, it is a diagonal measurement, but I only know it is 142.24 cm by calculating it. And if the producer had used the metric system, he would have made 140 cm screens. Right?

Well, nice addition.
Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit, a physicist and engineer, was born in Danzig (now Gdańsk, Poland) in 1686, but spent much of his life in the Netherlands, particularly in Amsterdam. It was in the Netherlands that he developed his temperature scale, which was later named after him: the Fahrenheit scale. Fahrenheit settled in Amsterdam around 1701 and began his work there as an instrument maker and physicist. He improved existing thermometers and, in 1714, introduced his own scale, based on a mixture of ice, water, and salt as the zero point (0°F) and the average human body temperature as the reference (approximately 96°F, later adjusted to 98.6°F). His work took place in the Netherlands, so you could indeed say that the Fahrenheit scale was "invented" in the Netherlands. Fahrenheit developed his temperature measurement in the Netherlands!
Sorry!

I'm pretty sure that most trade/technical schools in the US use the metric system, like measuring 16 feet 5/8ths of an inch when you can convert that to metric using a decimal point, metres and centimetres. Air Canada, a number of years ago, had an emergency landing on a remote runway as it was refuelled underweight because the refueller used litres instead of gallons

The  dollar is in metric, the bullet size is in mm (9mm) cocaïne is in metric, the thickness off dive suit is in mm and there are more examples. The USA is not only Imperial but metric to.

As an european I associate keeping imperial system with flat earth and creationism : a way to keep people in the dumbest ignorence

In Spain, I think the only thing we have in inches is television screens.

Garden hoses use imperial measures because traditionally in Europe all tubes used in the plumbing works have diameters measured in imperial. Probably because the standardization  was made in the UK when it still used imperial. Another sector where the imperial is used is for TV and computer screens; in practice it's the length of a screen's diagonal. Years ago the two different systems were used for screws and the related wrenches in mechanics; but the imperial one has now almost completely disappeared; as will probably happen in the other sectors too.

Here in Canada we adopted the metric system but nearly all construction is done in imperial measurements. Lumber is sold by the foot as with pipe and other materials. Imperial still has its uses obviously.

Yeah, it's strange to see inches used to describe garden hoses (or rather: any connector used  in plumbing), but it nowhere near as confusing as  the strange mixture used in tire sizes:
e.g  225/70R16 means a tire has a width of 225mm, it's height is 70% of its width and fits a 16" rim.
