[Earth Heroes] Today's protagonist is Nero, the Roman Emperor, who received both praise and criticism.
Early in his reign, he proved surprisingly capable.
He lowered taxes, improved public facilities, and gained the support of the common people.
Even the later Emperor Trajan
said positively about that period.
However, power didn't leave him alone for long.
As time passed, Nero eliminated those closest to him to maintain his power,
politics became unstable, and he became increasingly isolated.
Nero, a lover of art, ultimately lost his balance
between the responsibilities of a ruler and his personal desires.
Episode 41 of Earth Heroes examines the relationship between power and humanity through the reign of one emperor.
