Zwift looks like some sort of video game, Rouvy is wholesome visits of cool places around the world. To me Rouvy is the clear winner.

@davidpancerz5820 10 months ago (edited)

I'm 65 and pay annual memberships to both platforms. I don't race and talking or texting during a ride (community) is of no interest to me so Rouvy is my go-to indoor workout. Plus after riding Zwift for years as it was the only game in town, I'm tired of the cartoonish Super Mario GUI. While not perfect, the global scenery in Rouvy is far more appealing. I'll likely never make it to Spain but have ridden the hell out of most of the iconic routes in Mallorca. The creators of Rouvy constantly send me surveys in order to improve the rider experience, something I don't think Zwift ever did. I too routinely run out of gearing on downhills (Wahoo Kickr Bike) which is a con but I try to pick semi challenging rides to avoid that. So far Rouvy has earned my time and attention. Nice video, thank you for posting.

The best cycling app is the one which get you on the bike

@jasonkrupp2326 1 year ago

I was on Zwift for several years, but I found myself riding it less and less because I just got bored with the routes. I moved over to Rouvy at the end of last winter (stopped over the summer while the weather was nice and I could ride my mountain bike) back on it again now due to wildfires and trail closures in my area (Nova Scotia). Gotta say, I love it, especially for doing long rides I can pick from actual races I've done or want to do. Don't particularly care about racing online, but I do dabble occasionally.

Zwift : Community,races , Gaming Look Rouvy : Much more routes , real world. I have Both and Rouvy is my Favorite

@jamesplegg 1 year ago

First, it's a really good video. Thanks. It was interesting to me, as I've tried both. Both are great, but the one you prefer will depend on what you want from indoor riding software. Zwift certainly wins for racing and community. However, Rouvy is incredible for the diversity of real rides. One of my favourite aspects of this, as a bike racing fan, is being able to ride routes on all the big bike racing events - flanders classics, tour de france mountain stage sections, the Poggio and Cipressa. Just thinking about it makes the mouth water! I just rode the Fred Whitton back in May. How amazing to be able to practice many of the climbs on Rouvy! And, as of 2025, Rouvy now has the facility to upload your own favourite routes. I just did the first of these, and wow! how amazing was that. Capture video yourself, upload, add starting gates, crowds, then ride it in Rouvy! I mean, that's just astonishing. And all in 2K definition! For racing and community - Zwift - yes, if you have the money. For everything else and almost limitless new routes to ride - Rouvy!

Rouvy is my choice, Zwift is to much like a game... Love Rouvy's realism.

Have not used Zwift, but been on Rouvy for nearly a year. Love the challenges and the beauty of the routes. I have been to places where I will never be able to go in reality and I have never ridden the same route twice - there are just too many. Riding on my own does not bug me as I prefer that in real life also. Rouvy for the win.

Wonderful and thorough review. I think I'll opt for Rouvy! Thanks for this

Community is way bigger, and more active in Zwift, the roads are more packed, races have more people. UI and HUD is very clean, and nice. Graphics have personality. Great and fun ride, very rewarding feel. high recommendation! Though I get why some people prefer the google maps style graphics of Rouvy.

Tried Zwift and altough I was an avid gamer on my PC, I do not like the look-and-feel of Zwift. Rouvy is my choice. Riding my favorite routes on Mallorca and exploring new countries is just awesome.

Great video. I have tried 12 on-line platforms, including Rouvy a few weeks ago. I keep coming back to Zwift. My main activity on-line is racing and no other platform comes close. I do see the attraction of Rouvy and agree the IRL look is great. Like you, I ran out of gears at about 45kmh!!! (I ride a Wahoo Kickrbike). You mention the number of people entering each race. In the Australian time zones, there are very few races to choose from on Rouvy whereas on Zwift there are at least 5 to 10 races each hour. I also like the looping routes and gamification on Zwift, which are generally not available on Rouvy. These undoubtedly enhance the racing experience. Having said the above, I do see the attraction of Rouvy for riders who prefer the IRL look or are training for a specific IRL race/event.

A nice balanced review. I have been using Zwift for a couple of years now and have found it fine. But having started using Rouvy a week ago I’ve found it so much more suited to me. I don’t value the community and racing that’s within Zwift, and I love the real world environment within Rouvy. I have a Stages SB20 and it is more realistic within Rouvy. I can actually get out the saddle and grind up hills, something that never really works in Zwift (with the SB20). Many of the comments sum up the difference perfectly; if you value the community go with Zwift, if you want to explore riding around the world and mostly ride on your own, Rouvy is better.

@philipeddington6282 10 months ago

Just seen this. I've been using Zwift for 5 plus years and frankly I like it. Cracking comparison video and well put together

Interesting vid thanks Chad. Rouvy for me. Have practiced many rides before trips to Mallorca and elsewhere and they have proved to be extremely accurate. It's lovely just to choose anywhere in the world to ride from Mt Ventoux to Sa Calobra, Cap Formentor etc etc. Real sense of escapism and getting out to ride on a sunny day (or not!). It really helps get through the pain

@V-Rides 1 year ago

Cars have me nervous but I've found rouvy to be life like so I still get to explore while being safe

@harmattaa 1 year ago

I've ridden extensively on both Rouvy and Zwift. Rouvy is great for those who enjoy solo workouts and prefer being left alone, its real-world simulation is truly excellent. Zwift, on the other hand, is a community, it's almost like a religion, and that's not something you can build overnight. I pay slightly more for Zwift, but in my opinion, it's a bargain.
