A forgotten detail about Strauss is that despite appearing as a snake with no honor, at no point did he become disloyal to the gang. Even after being captured, and presumably tortured by the Pinkertons, he died never having said a word.
I loved that conversation with Reverend Swanson at the train station, but the conversation with the sister is irreplaceable. That was such a powerful scene and the first time this game made me cry. “I’m afraid” was delivered so beautifully, and it showed the humanity in Arthur that we rarely get to see throughout the game. He’s always quick witted, sarcastic, and a smart ass, but that was a minute of vulnerability. A man feeling death creep up on him, knowing he’s impervious to stop it, and realizing that regardless of how tough he is, mortality is still a terrifying thing that every man, woman, and child has to encounter in their lives
Kicking Strauss out is one of my favorite parts of the game because of the "You and me we ain't decent, but those folk they was" is one of the best lines in the game for Arthurs character progression.
Some of these cutscenes are things that 90%+ of the playerbase will never see. Props to Rockstar for still adding them. Always loved the insane detail in this game.
Also, if you meet Trelawny for the "Fine Night of Debauchery" mission with a nice suit already on, Trelawny acknowledges it but says you need something better still. I just found that out this past weekend after all these years.
16:40 used my black arabian horse from the start of chapter 4 up until the very end. I can tell you this cutscene BROKE ME. More emotional than the final scene for me.
