■ Overview
This is the first installment of our SES (System Engineering Service) Engineer Conference. We welcomed Mr. Tanno (Engineer Co., Ltd.) and Mr. Uesaka (DUSK Co., Ltd.), who run SES companies, as guests to frankly discuss what kind of engineers will be hired and unhired in the SES industry in 2026.

While projects related to AI business efficiency, AI agents, and data infrastructure are rapidly increasing, testing and modification projects for junior engineers are decreasing. Some companies are even stopping the hiring of inexperienced individuals.

At the recruitment session, unique criteria for hiring were revealed, such as "We reject people who only think about themselves" and "We reject everyone who wants to work fully remotely."

The second half covered whether SES is a dying industry and what kind of career paths 30- and 40-year-olds should pursue. What is the difference between engineers who thrive in SES and those who can no longer succeed? A must-see for engineers working in SES.
