In this video, I utilized Adobe Premiere Pro for editing, seamlessly compiling all the movie reactions. For the thumbnails, I used Adobe Photoshop, carefully integrating each reactor into the design. I recorded my review using the Rode Wireless GO II microphone, ensuring high-quality audio. The video was shot on a Sony ZV-E10 camera paired with a Sigma 16mm lens for crisp visuals. All editing was done on a powerful Dell Precision 5820 workstation with the 8GB Graphics Card Nvidia RTX 4000.

Honestly the melting face might be one of the greatest special effects ever. It is so iconic.

The Ark's power was foreshadowed earlier in the film when Indy showed the government agents a picture of the Ark. When we finally see its power as Indy described (lightning, fire, power of God), it is incredible and terrifying at the same time.

"I dont know what I expected, but it wasn't THAT."

I was 7 when I saw this. 7.

Some guy: "WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!"

God: "Stuff mere mortals shouldn't see!"

For those who don't understand, the assumption in the final cut of the film is that Indy just knew to keep their eyes shut to keep themselves humble before the wrath of God because of his education in archeology and some biblical studies but there's actually a deleted scene on the blu ray where the Imam who decipherd the headpiece warns him not to touch the Ark or look at it if opened. There's also a brief deleted scene where Sallah almost touches it and Indy reminds him not to.

To quote my mother: "They talked to god. And god was mad."

The first time I watched this, my parents told me to cover my eyes. I wanted to see, but I covered my eyes and pretended like I was their with Indy and Marion hiding our eyes. It was definitely one of those moments when I felt like I was really there because the audio was also fantastic in this scene.

The music in this scene takes my breath away. It is just beyond epic, easily some of John Williams' best work.

The sand is the disintegrated remnants of the tablets. And, to be fair, under the circumstances, closing their eyes was their only option.

I love how so many of these reactions start with them being amused/laughing at the characters' initial screaming, then instantly turning to revoltion and horror during the face melting.

The 10 commandments were written on sandstone, which is compacted sand that turns into stone. Over the years, it turns back into sand. So that sand that was running through the person's hand was indeed the 2 tablets that held the 10 commandments.

This movie came out in 1981 and even though the effects are dated, they still hold up. Just look at how all of these people react to this scene. Great reactions from everyone.

The crazy thing is these practical effects were made in 1980. No CGI, just makeup, models, and camera tricks. Now you know why they called themselves "Industrial Light& Magic."

INDY: Don’t look at it! Shut your eyes, no matter what happens!
YOUTUBERS: How do you know that?
INDY: Didn’t you ever go to Sunday school?

John Williams for the win, as always...

I know the guy who has Tofts skull. They did wax over the skull then used a heat lamp and time lapse, the whole skull melting took like several hours and it's only a few seconds in the movie.

A deleted scene involved an expert on the meaning of the headpiece to the staff of Ra who told Indy not to look at the Ark if someone opens it.

The filmmakers had to superimpose flames over Belloq's head, because seeing it explode would have pushed it over the edge to R.

You can tell who wasn't paying attention during conversations about the ark lol

@andreaspooky6183 1 year ago

In all hindsight, what's inside the ark is NOT SAND ^_^
