How can a confident, conscientious person become trapped in confusion and self-doubt?
Using a vignette from The Social Predator’s Secret Playbook that I recently shared during a therapist training, I examine triangulation, traumatic cognitive dissonance, and epistemic injury. We explore how a manipulative partner can exploit someone’s strengths—and why assuming the victim lacks self-esteem can reinforce self-blame.
I also discuss proactive aggression: goal-directed aggression used to obtain an advantage, and why intentional exploitation must remain part of an accurate clinical assessment.
