Brewers just won in part due to a player hustling to 1st and in response forcing the Padres player to rush his throw leading to a run that would start the comeback as the Brewers went on to rally in the 9th.

Padres just got walked off... brutal series for them

This has literally been the rule ever since the park opened in 2001, no surprise at all.

been waiting on this video since last night

Don’t love the rule, but it seems to have been applied correctly.  That said, not sure why a ball hitting the ceiling wouldn’t work like the only other time a ball hits a stationary part of the field–the wall. I think if it hits the ceiling, much like the wall, it is still in play but it’s treated as if it hit the ground. Also, if that ball made it 325 ft after hitting the roof, there’s no way that thing isn’t traveling 450 ft. The ball was still rising (obviously, has to be to hit the roof).  He absolutely crushed that thing. Unlike any other ball I’ve seen hit I think, you just don’t see balls hit that high go that far.

11% chance for the Padres to come back from 0-2 😭

Please talk more about Jackson in a video. The kid is an October monster.

It would’ve been a fair ball either way too 💔

Weird that it even took 3 minutes for the umps to confirm. It obviously hit the roof, and the rule at that park is fairly straightforward, even if it feels unfair.

• Harry Doyle: "Fly ball... deep left field... back, back... it's long gone!"
• Assistant (in background): "Too high."
• Harry Doyle: "What do you mean, 'too high'?"
• Assistant: "Too high. I thought."
• Harry Doyle: "Not 'too high,' 'too hard,' right?"
• Assistant: "No, it was too high."

Guards fan here.  Yes, ground rules clearly state that it’s an out, but that is a ridiculous rule.  Can’t believe that was the rule in the first place.  MLB needs to change it

Honestly the stadium is the problem, I see it when I watch a game take place at the trop, I like roofed stadiums but so many are designed by glue sniffers.  The roof should not interfere with the game.

Dave Kingman had this happen multiple times.  I think it happened to Daryl Strawberry as well.

As a fan of neither team what a great 2 games.

Use your eyes, it was crushed to the moon and was going to make it past 342’

Just cause it was ruled correctly doesn’t mean it wasn’t dumb as hell

You could use trigonometry with your best estimate of where it hit the roof along with where it was caught and calculate distance flown if there was no roof

The call was called correctly in the grounds of the field but its a dumb rule because its nothing more than a wall that's really high up so it should just be a live ball in play. Padres should've been rewarded with atleast a base.

A ball hit at 105 MPH at a 49° launch angle in Milwaukee with no wind will travel somewhere in the area of 355-380 feet, depending on the spin of the ball. So without hitting the roof, it's a home run. However, it did hit the roof, and that is and always has been in play. Just bad luck.

I think if it wasn't in the ninth inning it wouldn't have been as big of a deal. But the ninth inning of a playoff game, down by 1? Yeah. Do whatever you can to try to understand what just happened and what the rules are.
