During the UK storms of 1996 (the remains of Hurricane Lili) we lost a 300 year-old beech tree which had a 22ft circumference at the base. I cut the whole tree up with two chainsaws (as one wore out!) and a 10lb splitting axe. It was hard work but it took 17 years to burn all of the wood. Many happy hours spent watching the flames in the log burners late at night  knowing that - “I did that’.
