"Majora's masks most overlooked feature"

One of MM's most talked about upgrade systems

I have nothing but gratitude for Majora Mask existing. The GOAT game.

Always liked the look of the razor sword more than gilded

"Rhomboid-bespeckled Demon Lord" is perhaps the best description of Ghirahim I've ever heard.

NGL I've literally never used the razor sword. Usually I give the sword over for forging while doing the second dungeon. By the time I go and get it back, I already have the gold dust.

I will never be able to unsee that shrug.

I always figured that the Great Fairy Sword was used like a standard item because, unlike Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask doesn't have an equipment system, instead going back to the permanent upgrades of prior games. Thus, you can get the Great Fairy Sword without completely replacing your other sword (with the two-handed aspect arguably being a disadvantage you wouldn't have to be permanently stuck with).
Rushed development aside, I'm assuming that MM dropped the equipment system because the mask transformations already provide enough variety, with the Great Fairy Sword being the single instance where it might've been useful. Still, I'm sure a lot of people could agree that it might've been nice to be able to switch back to your Hylian Shield rather than be stuck with that Mirror Shield design for the entire rest of the game (even if you obtain it very late anyway).

If we get an OoT remake and it’s good, I can only imagine how good a MM remake might be. I would love to see the promotional art of Majora brought to life

Don’t mind me, I still memorize the need to upgrade to a sword.

And believe me… I once did a playthrough of Majora’s Mask WITHOUT any sword upgrades at all… AND… it was a tougher time than I thought it would’ve been… So I still stay true to the upgrades. And Gilded Sword is my fav in MM. Fierce Deity and Great Fairy Swords were close, but if I have a need to one-shot a Gerudo guard at the Pirate’s Fortress (if possible at the right angle), the Gilded Sword is the go-to.

Which does remind me… despite the guards saying, “Don’t think it ends here!” Why would the three guards say that when you never actually see them again throughout the remainder of the game? Unless you repeat the 3-day cycle, it doesn’t make sense. A topic on that soon? Just a suggestion.

Very high quality content, I love to see it!

The Giant's Knife and Biggoron Sword, while sharing a model, are not the same weapon nor are they made by the same Goron.  The giant's knife is available for purchase from Mediggoron inside of Goron City and is not at all required to be purchased in order to get the Biggoron Sword. That one requires the Broken Sword from the trading quest, which was originally forged by... Of course, Biggoron atop Death Mountain.

what is interesting is how if you use a cheat code where the great fairy sword is the equipped sword then giant's mask link will be able to use it.

peak game

Optional and/ or upgradeable sowrds are just one of those things that could easily be a Zelda main stay that has no real downsides, but somehow Nintendo just loves to drop or add it as they please. 😅

Funny I feel the same way about Metroid Samus Returns.

I remember playing this for the first time on the 3DS, and I also remember thinking the sword system was odd. You get the fairy sword so quickly after getting access to the razor sword, there was never any point to going through the steps for me to get the weaker one ever again

The Helix Blade always reminded me of an Hourglass shape ❤

So, Biggoron's has 4 damage, long reach, 2 handed. Razor & Master share 2 damage and mid reach, and Gilded gets 3 damage and long reach, while being one handed. Great Fairy Sword is 4 damage and mid reach, 2 handed, and bypasses jinxing. Fierce Deity Sword is 4 damage, 2 handed w/ built-in blocking, long reach.
Can anyone correct me, or give additional info to the precise stats ? I find it rly cool how there's such variety between them, wondering how they compare exactly.

The Gilded Sword is the coolest for me because it gains a red trail when you swing it that looks super cool.

The "Kokiri" sword is likely a replica forged for Link as a gift from Zelda, since Link foes say he'll return the actual Kokiri sword to the forest.
