OTH literally changed my life, it will always be my go to comfort show. Literally legendary

I love how Alex just makes everyone feel SAFE when talking about the most awkward and/or uncomfortable moments. She approaches every conversation with genuine curiosity and allows the person to explain as much as they want. A dream interviewer.

Around 8 - 9 min in talking about being unable to trust your gut because what you are feeling is different than what those around you are telling you is such a HUGE realization

This dropping while I'm on season 5 of my first watch of one tree hill.. I love the universe sometimes

Her therapist was her hero! ❤

When Joy speaks, I tune in…Her clarity and transparency while being the pure soul she is pure gold. Love her!!

So impressed with Bethany and just how strong, articulate, self aware and insightful she is . Great episode 🩵

I feel so much of what she’s talking about. If you ever read this Joy - yes, sharing your experience with a cult helps others with similar experiences heal. Thank you for your vulnerability.

The audio book was so good! I recommend listening to Joy reading it.

One Tree Hill was one my fav shows growing up.

I remember when OTH came out in 2003. It’s where it all started for me
I tend to rewatch it too.
I always loved Bethany
Loved her as Haley James Scott

as the daughter of a narcissistic father this brought so many tears. Narcissists and psychopaths really do work similar to cults it's uncanny how I relate.

Just randomly clicked on this and didn’t realize it had just been uploaded, wow! Love you Joy!!

I loved OTH in my college days and just as it dropped this may in Netflix, I just bindge watched 9 seasons in 3 weeks or so. (Taking some time off work to think 😂) & OTH watching in my 40’s changed my perspective of how I received it on the second time and found much deeper meaning to the truths of life than in my late teens. To listen to what Joy is saying in this episode makes my heart break for her. She was an amazing actress and obviously here we are thinking the cast must be having such fun when we really had to clue what she was going through. She was so good on screen, made us feel Haley is the real Joy. Anyway I am glad she found her way out and is in peace now

Had a friend with narcissistic personality disorder. When I ended that friendship, I kept saying "I feel like I was in a cult". This episode is so validating.

OTH was one of the first shows I ever followed as a teen. All my friends would talk about it at school. It all makes sense now that she wasn't personal friends with the cast

This was a powerful conversation. There is so much that we can all learn from. Thank you Joy for your courage to share parts of your journey with us. I know this is going to help a lot of people.

Alex, you’re doing a great job at interviewing while being compassionate and a friend to Bethany in a vulnerable conversation. I commend you !

Dang… I had youth leaders that told me to I needed to move out of my mother’s house because she was giving me life advice different than what the leaders wanted for my life. This podcast is so good

OMG I’ve been wondering where the full version of this was. Thank you for reuploading it for us. I love Bethany Joy so much. She’s such a lovely person 🤍
