What a beautiful story and the Leafs should be honoured to draft Gavin.  The fact that he is indigenous and has such compassion and love for his culture is truly inspiring. You have earned the number one overall!

Being from a First Nation's home, its touching to know he was proud to wear the vest his grandma made him.

Just watched this and wanted to say how much I'll be cheering on this kid in everything he does. Such a humble, likeable young man. All the best mate! From Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺

When you see his eyes and face light up about the Yukon hockey rink being built and only nods about gold medals and national championships, you know he is a good guy.

Learning so much about you so glad the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to draft you first overall ❤

this story made me tear up! what an incredible guy and a wonderful family

Leafs are gonna be very happy.

Representing his people… ❤❤❤

I saw him play in MN against the Gophers. He was INSANELY GOOD. Reminded me of McDavid- who I've watched 3X in person.

So cool. As someone who grew up playing hockey in Whitehorse this is such a great story. I left home at 14 to chase the dream but never made it close to Gavin's level. I actually played many years with his uncles who were also really skilled players. It's great to hear they are working to build some new facilities there but the main issue is the lack of high level competition that is necessary for kids to really increase their skill level. That is the main reason these kids need to go south if they really want a chance to make it.

Good indian boy eh. God bless you little brother and your family eh. Take care young brother.

learning to play in that tight little rink was for the better dude is highly skilled in tight spaces

What an absolute beaut. Gonna be so bummed out if the Leafs don't take this guy 1st overall!

I like this kid even more now! This is a no brainer. A real great Canadian story. Representing both cultures and Canada. Go Leafs Go! Make this a reality!!!

Welcome to Toronto

What a great young man.  I'll be rooting for him to do well in the NHL!

He took a big risk going to Penn State and it nearly dropped him out of #1.  But he'll be better for it long-term, and the Leafs would be nuts to consider anyone else or trade the pick.  This guy is going to be an NHL legend, and quite possibly the best player the Leafs have EVER had.

I like this kid he has his head on his shoulder and he will be perfect for the NHL.

We are going to PSU-ASU Saturday afternoon will post some vids

Beautiful scenery
