this is still my fav clip. the stark contrast between brennan's magical and whimsical worldview and murph's psychological monster-fighting torture chamber is so real and funny
As someone with OCD I too heard Brennan explain that and knew exactly what someone’s brain could do with that then murph comes in and I’ve never felt more justified 😭
"You stay away from my wife! My wife! If you're gonna eat somebody eat me!" he says as he hurls a cookie into the shadows. He turns to look back at his beloved, midway through her nightly yoga regimen. "I love my beautiful monster bait wife..."
There's a crunching from the darkness, the sound of crumbling baked goods being devoured as scaled limbs and gleaming talons slither and skitter on the hard pavement of the night girded city. "So do we, she's a real snack! See ya tomorrow Murph."
"Obsessive Compulsive and extreme Catholic Guilt" I feel so bad for that man with that combination, he jokes but that is just a recipe for so many disasters
spoilers for A Starstruck Odyssey interview with his mom pt 2 (on Dropout): there's a sweet moment of Brennan talking to his mom about the cookie/windowsill/monster-become-friends thing and his mom, Elaine, reveals she was the one who was taking the cookies from the windowsill while Brennan was sleeping when he was a kid--his mind as an adult is truly blown, he had no idea. love the support and magic his mom created in his childhood!
Murph has OCD AND catholic guilt. Isnt that funny. My OCD therapist is irish and he said he wasnt planning on specializing in it, it was just what everyone who came to see him had!
