somehow this orchestra delivers all the fucking time

Mahler top, Dirigent top, Orchester top, Aufnahme-Menschen top   ;-)

Kuchen zu backen während man sich diese Stücke anhört ist unerwartet amüsant

One of the most impressive Mahler 5 intros.. He is sooooo great. He can play not only deep sounds but also sharp sounds in the high range.. Many players play this song's intro simply and neatly. But this player is wide, deep, and even play like pushing the tones that classical players hate. Very unique.

46:20 that “Adagietto”

Orozco-Estrada is such a talented and passionate conductor. So proud of him being Colombian and doing this beautiful job.

I think the camera man is a musician, love the camera play and angles.

Everyone knows the wonderful notes of the Adagietto, but probably few are aware of the story that is connected to it, a love story. Mahler was in love with Alma Schindler, the woman he would later marry. Because of his shyness, he could not bring himself to declare his love, so he did what geniuses do: letting their creative power speak for them. He composed the Adagietto for piano solo and sent the score to Alma, without adding a single word. After all, what could he have added? Alma sat down at the piano and played the Adagietto; then she replied to Gustav: "Now you should come here." So, the Adagietto is a declaration of love, probably the most beautiful of all time.

The best performance of the Mahler 5th I have ever heard. The camera work was outstanding. Showing the various musicians and their incredible talent. The applause was great but a SO was a must. What a fantastic symphony orchestra.

The attack of the strings at the very end is maybe, the best i've heard on Mahler's 5th. Bravo Orozco-Estrada!

Mahler manages to recreate the entire world within this symphony. Breath taking.

Superb solo trumpet playing. Shameful his name isn't listed in the credits.

58:48 Wow. The clarinetists took such pride in holding their instruments aloft boldly and nobly. That was an inspired visual flourish to a very inspiring symphony. And this orchestra did a phenomenal job of performing it! The French horn that opened the finale was hearldic in the best way, to call out of a meditative rest the other horns and winds to follow. If I were to spend a long and pensive time thinking of where to begin to compliment Mahler 's work, it would be with his use of the horns. He uses them to every bit as great effect as Handel, though, obviously very differently stylistically and to different purpose. Specifically in this symphony, the horns have such an expressive range, throughout all movements, at times ominous and dreadful, at others triumphant and joyous, as in the finale. They really stand out in this symphony in particular to show Mahler 's broad expressive range. Most of his works are uniquely Romantic in that respect, verging in modernism in the late Romantic style in the very best way. Aware of but not overwhelmed by the inevitable march of time and progress, but not consumed with existential anxiety, as many modernists are in their artistic expression, though this symphony does express a degree of existential anxiety, as other of his works do. There is a universal optimism that wins out in his works, as though all of creation shudders through the horrors of modern existence only to finally overcome and rise above the nihilism that pervaded the first half of the 20th century between two world wars and a great depression. To paraphrase Harold Bloom, the famous literary critic, what makes a literary work stand out as a great model of its art is a sense of inevitability of wording, the feeling when we read it of not necessarily sensing that we know what words will follow those that precede them, but that there are no other words that can follow them, that they are inevitably the only words that can make the sequence of thought they express. As he conceived of great literature, it is inexorable in its composition and expression. I would classify Mahler 's work in that same sense of greatness. There is a triumph of the human spirit that his music expresses that feels so inevitable that it imparts a sense of faith in the world and God and others, to believe that this life, this age, this world cannot be anything other than it is, and in the face of that inevitability, we will triumph. This is a great work of art. For any who enjoyed it, I would also recommend his sixth symphony and his Resurrection symphony.

look at that Mahler is the concertmaster! greatest performance ever

Very good interpretation. It is my particular opinion that the Adagietto is usually played TOO slow, bur this one comes out at the right tempo. Bravo for this Colombian conductor.

Satz. Ueberhaupt erinnert mich AOE an den jungen Georg Solti. Ich sehe mit Spannung einer Sechsten entgegen...

As a teenager, I’m so glad I prefer these classical masterpieces over some of the less meaningful music found in todays culture. No one will be listening to Cardi B in 30 years, but I will live with composers like Mahler for the rest of my lifetime. ❤❤

If you possible can, you must here this live in concert. It was so good, I’m going again in April with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra

Edit: I’m back after the performance and it was amazing, the standing ovation would have probably gone until now if they dint have to clear the hall
