Hey everyone,

What a fun session this was. I fished Yarmouth pier on the Isle of Wight. Started the evening fishing for bream, ticked that one off. Having never caught a squid before, I really wanted to have a go, and I managed to catch my first one. So happy.

I often set a float rig up with a snap swivel at the top, you can clip this on with a squid jig on the bottom and slide it out on the main line, works for squid and you can put a hook and bait on if after mackerel. Allows you to fish mid water even in fast tides.

Hi Dylan, nice to see you fishing for squid, I’ve never caught one, I’ve never even fished for them. I don’t think the water is clear enough for them up here in East Anglia. Hope you do well in your up coming comp.

Well done.
In Western Australia we have silly rules.
You can only use 2 rods maximum and only one hook per rod.
Silly silly rules.
Big fines..
$500 if you get caught 😥
