Sports announcers today should listen to these legends doing the play by play and commentary and try to follow their example. What a pleasure listening to these games. Today’s games are better watched with no volume.
I like the comment that everyone in the stands was wearing hunter’s red. Back then, before the invention of day-glow orange, a simple red plaid jacket was what hunters wore.
And just three years earlier the Packers won just one game. I wish more of these early games were saved. These are priceless. THANKS for leaving in the original commercials which are also a time capsule. By 1961 the NFL was firmly entrenched on American television and a point of no return. Baseball wasn't going to be America's favorite sport for much longer.
This is a great find for me on Youtube. Born in 1953 it is just a little before my time as living in STL I can tell the first season I followed the St. Louis football Cardinals was the 1963 season and well remember the NFL championship game between the Bears and the Giants that year. I am really familar though with the players on these teams a couple years prior in 1961. Ever since STL Rams owner Stan Kroenke snubbed his nose on the riverfront stadium approved by St. Louis so he could instead build SOFI in order to go against him and force the NFL to keep the Rams in STL, I have become a Packers fan. What a great run they had in the 1960s and remember the Giants team here well as the STL Cardinals played in the Eastern conference with them. Thanks for placing on Youtube.
This is my first recollection of watching the Packers. I remember there was some concern whether several members of the Packers would play since they were in the Wisconsin National Guard and the Berlin Wall crisis was going on. But everyone showed up and Lombardi won his first championship.

Amazing bit of NFL history so well preserved. I watched the whole game. Spent some time afterward researching many of these great players — so sad to discover such a high percentage of them passed away due to dementia and/or CTE. That said, many of these men lived well into their 80s and some into their early 90s…
I only meant to watch a little bit. Man...this stuff is just fascinating. So much here. Wow, your star middle LB is playing on special teams? The rb's lined up really close to the line of scrimmage, too. Thanks for the upload. Tony in Oregon Feb 2021
