Mul is an absolute legend met him in waterford not so long ago he was a gentleman from a kk man he was a pleasure to talk to

IF there was a dedicated GAA channel on terrestrial TV and this show was a weekly show it would be massive!

Idea for a future pod lads. A 16th man of the year. The best fella to come off the bench of hadn't started the majority of games in a year. The Pat Ryan award might be a good name 🤣🤣🤣 Tom Morrissey this year maybe? Noel McGrath last year? Lads like David Reidy and Wally Walsh in the past had impacts!

Great show lads
Few thoughts on the rules.
The sideline cut is a brilliant skill and one of the great skills of hurling, but it shouldn't be worth 2 points. At the end of the day it's a dead ball and a free shot at the posts. On the balance of things, one point is fair reward for the skill involved, but 2 points is too much. If it's worth 2, young lads will inevitably spend huge amounts of time practising them and we'll eventually have specialist sideline takers as well as specialist free-takers. Keep the skill and reward it, but keep it worth one score.
I also think 6 steps will take away from the art of defending. Hooks, blocks and proper tackling will become fewer and fewer because the man in possession will have too much opportunity to get away. Hurling needs more one-to-one tussles, more battles for possession in the air and on the ground, and ultimately more striking of the ball.
The brick flick is another hazard to the game. The handpass should only be allowed off the hurl. Encourage lads to use the hurl and strike the ball. We should be trying to protect the skills that make hurling what it is, not finding more ways of moving the ball through the hand.
On the 65, moving it back to the far 65 makes very little odds. At adult level, lads will still put it over from there. You shouldn't effectively be gifted a score because a goalkeeper makes a brilliant save, or worse again because a defender gets a flick or a high block on a shot. Reward the attacking team with territory, absolutely, but don't reward them with an almost guaranteed score. Give them the ball back at where the ball went out they have to play it off the ground like a line ball. That rewards the attack without punishing good defending.
For me, any rule changes should be about encouraging the core skills of hurling — striking, hooking, blocking, catching and competing and gathering possession.

Gavin Lee extremely unfortunate to miss out, Brilliant hurler , Clarinbridge produces some great hurlers and camogie players!

Rule changes. 6 steps is wrong. Defender can stand 3-4 steps off his man and (1) be close enough to get a block in if/when his man goes to strike (2) man in possession can't just run around the defender, within 3-4 step he has to play the ball where the defender has the opportunity to intercept/get a flick in. If the defender stands off his man 6 steps he'll be too far away to get a block in, if he gets closer, the man in possession can just run past him (which takes no skill).  It's not difficult for ref to count 4 steps. To any hurling person, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Certainly no more difficult to count 4 than 6. bigger one for me is player in possession running into his marker looking for and majority of time getting a soft free. When in possession, you can dictate, you can chose which way to go out of the 360 degrees avaible to you. If you choose to bring it into contact, take whatever is coming to you. No playing for and getting soft frees. The most basic element to defending is and has to be, being able to hold your ground. End of rant

Hot take but Huw Lawlor when playing is up there for the fastest in the game. I don't think I've ever seen him out paced by a forward

My all star team
1. N. Quaid
2. N o' leary
3. C trayers
4. B nash
5. D byrnes
6. W o donoghue
7. K hayes
8. T monaghan
9. T Kelly
10. G hegarty
11. A o Connor
12. P duggan
13. J rabbitte
14. B hayes
15. P casey

Pat Ryan is 100% right about o Donnell and the points.
Podge Collins was asked about O Donnells 3 goals in the final and he said he was more surprised by the 3 points.
😅

There is no way the 6 step rule will be applied accurately.
Its absolutely nuts.
The rules are totally incoherent with the handpass rule to discourage running and 6 steps encouraging running.

I like the rule on pulling on the throw in which should move the ball away from the ruck location and the handpass rule is worth trying but the rest of them i can do without.

Gavin Lee is the biggest guy to miss out. Thought he has a superb year before the final. Mike Casey deserved one too, didn't start every game but had a big impact. Rabbitte catching 2 balls on him is a hard reason to rule him out

If they want to improve hurling they need to start with the ball.its too light it's like a tennis ball now, players can hit it 90 yards eliminateing most of the opposition... crazy

Gleeson was the most talented player I’ve ever seen but Waterford often didn’t utilize him properly

His performance against Tipp in a Munster final u 21 was the best performance I’ve ever seen

Barry Nash is slightly faster than Kyle Hayes. Seen it plenty times from the North stand in the Gaelic Grounds when they go on a run together. The fastest man currently in the Limerick panel is said to be Darragh Langan, several players have said so now. I never saw anyone catch Cork's Jack O'Connor.

Mull for president 🙌

Re. Nikkie Quaid & Mul, if Mul thinks Nikkie was cynical with his tackle on Peter Duggan can he explain why Duggan scooped the sliotar rather than striking it on the ground if Nikkie wasn't looking to block the ball with his foot. That's what goalie's do. Look at Nikkie's save on Seamus Callanan in the Munster final 2019 (57:30), look at his save on Patrick Horgan in the 24 semi-final, ball comes off the post, Hoggie pulls on the ground, Nikkie blocks with his foot. Yes, we all know Nikkie tripped Duggan and it was a penalty (well actually it wasn't cause it was outside the square, but I don't think you'd have any Limerick person argue that). And maybe Nikkie deserved red or black. I'm not arguing that. Question for Mul is, why did Duggan scoop the sliotar if Nikkie wasn't looking to block it with his foot/leg? My point is, it wasn't cynical, genuine attempt to block the ball. And don't give me bluster, well everyone can see bla bla bla. Why did Duggan scoop the sliotar?

Definitely agree with cathal naughton, Hayes the fastest in the modern era alright probably has the distance speed over jack o Connor...... Honorable mentions to Ryan taylor Damien Hayes and Kevin Broderick

Totally agree with mullane about Niall o Leary our most consistent performer all yr

They should move the all-star night dowm to Adare Manor .  All that jp has done for hurling  he deserves that

With the news of Mark Zuckerberg it might be smart for Mull to stay in the van with the housing crisis. Agree with ye that Monaghan has to find a way into the All-Star team.

PAT FOX

Tom Monaghan scored 1-27 from play this year, Cian lynch scored 0-8 in 2026. That’s  fairly low for the player they call this apparent “Wizard “ and he has been very low scoring for a good few years now.. genuinely can’t remember last time lynch scored a goal for Limerick .. so overrated I’ll keep saying it . The media are obsessed with him .. he’s not even in Limericks top 5 players   . Meanwhile exceptional midfielders like Tom Monaghan, Tony Kelly and Dublin’s Brian Hayes are linking up play, scoring goals and covering every blade of grass .

The midfield all stars have to be Adam English and Tom Monaghan , Monaghan deserves it 👏🏽

And yes lads  Aidan McCarthy back in for 2027, has to happen !
