fun fact: i once found a copy of this game in a parking lot. the sticker was gone, and it looked a bit damaged. i put the game in my 3ds, and the first profile was 100% completed.

A skipped most of the intro, so it said:

"When evil rises, that's-a so nice!"

that game was my childhood. i never remembered all those pixels tho.

this was the first EVER mario game i ever got  the nostalgia is soooooo real

The invisible box past the flag is to stop mario from walking past the texture of the caste so it looks like mario goes into the castle and stays in there. Since part of the castle is in the foreground and some is behind to make it look like mario walks into the castle, and instead of making mario stop walking after walking enough, they just put an invisible box to avoid having to code mario stopping.

11:38 I might know why there's an invisible rectangle. By abusing some game mechanics in Super Mario Maker, we find that Mario walks forward a little bit, then stops and crouches once he is inside the castle. Therefore, the rectangle is most likely there to stop Mario from falling off the level at the end.

6:38 I guess you could say he looks SHOCKED

this reminds me of my 4th birthday. got a ds with new super mario bros and that was my first own gaming console and my first own game and the first time i heard about mario. my brother had a copy too so we played together. I was luigi and he was mario because my real name starts with L and his starts with M

This is one of the most beautiful videos ever created. Original content, good editing, relaxing music in the background, a friendly narrator with a soothing voice, ... this video has it all

mario beats a level
Mario: Big Cotton Eyes!
runs into castle

6:46 Oh man. I can't believe you just hit me in the face with of that blue shell twice. Unreal.

I know why there is that invisible rectangle past the castle in the desert level; Mario is programmed to constantly walk after touching the flag pole, and would walk right thru the back wall of the castle if nothing stopped him, but with the invisible collision zone he stops. The game creators never intended you to figure this out but with glitches you did.

"One of the best games and glitches ever!"

-Shigeru Miyamoto

I was messing around in the game when I first got it and found this glitch. Here's how you do it:
1. Go to Level 3, World 2
2. Proceed through the stage normally until you reach the Piranha Plant next to two flippers. Fall through them.
3. If you jump at just the right position between the two flippers, Mario will get stuck.

Pressing right moves the camera in that direction, while jumping and pressing left ends the glitch.
