This guy had driven to Mexico the day before and his car (and kids backpack) was loaded up with stuff. Both the male and female were arrested on scene but it appears that the male took accountability for the whole situation and the charges against the female were dropped.

The male was sentenced to 13 years in Texas state prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges (he's currently in prison). Unlike Federal prison where the inmates serve the majority of their sentence , they serve significantly less in state prison. It's possible he might only serve around half the sentence if he stays out of trouble in prison.

After the arrests the child was taken by family protective services, there is no info about the custody of the child today.
