If the gate current required by the triac or scr is too high it does not detect properly. It's stated in the manual I believe. It only detects low current devices.

I got one brand new with FW 1.1.0 and I can tell you: This thing is just a useless toy! Deviations in resistance and capacitance are significant, ESR readings are just a joke! Calibration does not help.
Never again FNIRSI meters! My FN58's FW is also buggy and reporting to FNIRSI support is just a waste of time! ☹☹☹

Every boot I get the "No Component" reading and I have to hit TEST again to get a reading. And I find R or C readings for components--it sort of "gives up" and calls things a resistor or cap. Additionally, you park yourself on your chiding of the machine translation a bit too long. If you have a problem with those who made the device, please consider excluding it from your work here--which is otherwise excellent. Lucky I kept my older one. That thing still works a treat.

when running the high voltage test you have to use the KAA ports, and please seat that board all the way into the device maybe that would make a difference

WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT. I just got version 1.0.8 which has been produced for almost a year. First transistor I tested identified the center pin as the emitter. Take those transistors and rotate them 180 degrees. One direction will be wrong. This company is terrible with software. Their company philosophy is ship it and fix it later. Everything needs to be updated the moment the box is opened. I haven't been able to get version 9 to upload. I only bought this because I lost my $10 tester in a move. That had no problem.

I've been assembling my first electronics lab, and considered getting one of these because of some other reviews. Thank goodness I completely forgot about it!! The awful 3-in-1 thing is bad enough but even this dedicated device seems so frustrating. Might just spring for the full Retro Chip Tester...
