In a dark fantasy world, the most feared being in existence — a powerful necromancer known as the Corpse God — is finally defeated by a legendary hero. But death isn't the end. Instead of fading away, his soul is ripped across dimensions and dropped into the body of Polka Shinoyama, a young boy in modern-day Tokyo who was just stabbed to death. Now, an ancient lord of the dead is walking the streets of one of the busiest cities on Earth, trying to understand cars, phones, and convenience stores — while still carrying the terrifying magic that once made entire kingdoms tremble. But Tokyo's underworld is far more dangerous than he expected. Assassins, crime syndicates, corrupt organizations, and mysterious forces are all hunting the body he now inhabits. They think they're dealing with a scared teenager. They have no idea that the thing inside that body has commanded armies of the dead and brought entire civilizations to their knees.
