I really appreciate enjoy your video this is taught me one thing I am near seven years old and don’t need the headache from these overpriced generators I will just keep my portable set up and put the rest of the money in the bank I can buy all the generator I want for under $1500 and I don’t need any other headaches thank you again for showing all the problems these things continue to have and it’s not just Cummings it’s all of them

Surprised the installer did not complete propane configuration. Thank you sharing your experience

It would be good to see a video on 25hr valve lash adjustment.

Love the SHILOH merch. Gotta rep the brand!

the holes at the bottom for lifting do not lead to the top portion of the unit so that is not where the mice are getting in fyi. The spark plugs are for life in these units. The unit is shipped with a bonding wire from the factory and needs to be removed if your panel truly doesnt have grounds and neutrals mixed ( seen this in the states) . Finally Gas guys will never open panels to do gas mods as they don't really know this info and traditionally read manuals.

Be sure to size the generator to what your actual loads will be. If you buy a gen that is too big it will not stay at a constant Hz as it will be hunting for load. The engine will not run at a constant RPM and hunt between 57-62 Hz.
I bought a 20 kw unit thinking bigger is better, but when it runs I have to turn on all the mini splits in the house to make it work and get it to run at a constant speed and Hz

Hey Woodly, I just rewatched your generator videos as I'm in the market for one.  Are you still happy a year farther on with your Cummings?

I had my 20kw installed in 2017, ran great until just after the warranty then had starting issues. The nearest Cummins Service is a 4-hr. round trip at $300/hr. and labor at $300 hr. with no limit on trouble shooting (2017 prices). I have to admit after several email exchanges they said they would send someone to check the genset out and cover the costs. When the tech arrived, he told me he worked from home and only lived 15 minutes from my house. Not happy. The tech said he worked on big diesel backup generators and was on the phone with the office getting support. After he adjusted the fuel mixture (3 hr.) he got the unit to run but was set rich (smell NG). It’s been a few years and I still have problems starting on scheduled exercise (error 45, 202 avg 1 in 10 starts). Recently I contacted Cummins and their “estimate” is $2,000 to check the unit out. I can always get it started manually so I guess I’ll wait till it’s a hard failure. I should have done more research, I have a dozen Generac service companies in my area and as long as I stay at my current location, Cummins is not an option for me.

I keep getting a FC36? Brand new generator. Kicks on but shuts off after 30 seconds  Any idea on this?

Followed your advice re putting a screen inside the filter.  Had a critter set up shop in that housing.  what a mess.   Also plugged the lifting holes.   "The installer forgot to put them in.   Installer said spark plugs are "lifetime".   Do you have a link to the plugs?     I have had mine for 8 years and have approx 550 hrs on it.   Did the valves adjustments for 3rd time last  summer.   Have not had to adjust since the initial check in 2020

My HMI screen turned yellow and I can’t see my settings anymore. How do you fix this without buying a new one.

Can you do a video on changing the battery? I'm trying to figure out how to disconnect the AC battery charger which it states to do before disconnecting the battery. The manual does not go into detail. I am assuming I need to replace the battery as my controller does not display and when I push the button the panel it tries to initialize but then the display goes blank.

How do you like your generator? I’m trying to decide between the Cummins 20kw or the Kohler 20kw.

Great vid! Hey I have the same one however the k1 relay keeps popping. I checked at wires for shorts, none. I’ve replaced it 3x. I cut utility, it starts, 5sec the relay pops inside the control panel. Any insight? I can’t find any help outside of the dealer

I screwed up and bought a Cummins 20kw - the battery will not stay charged even with a trickle charger being attached . There seems to be some sort of parasitic electrical drain ( it did not do this when it was originally installed) - Cummins basically quoted me $2000.00 to come out and trouble shoot - before parts . I disconnected the battery and put it on a trickle charger - so if we get a power failure I will have to go out open the cabinet reconnect the battery and start it manually . Running the generator does not seem to charge the battery whatsoever.
