I got the Ascent 32 V1 soon as it came out and I've had it long enough now and changed so much stuff on it, that it works pretty darn good. but for just straight out of the box, looks like the Axial takes it.

love both companies but I think more aftermarket parts are available for Axial. I ended up building an SCX30 from scratch. The way they designed it actually goes together easy, the screws are just tiny as hell lol.

The SCX30 is definitely an all around better rig for the course you have!. I feel like the A32 would have a better chance with some different tires. The stock ones suck.

Watching this comparison, and it just reinforces why I'd go Redcat every single time. Horizon Hobby is way too proprietary for me. Axial is owned by them, and you just know you're getting locked into their ecosystem with proprietary batteries, specialized plugs, and walled-garden electronics.
Brands like Redcat give you open layouts, standard plugs, and parts compatibility where you aren't forced into buying marked-up replacements every time something breaks. I'll take a standard, open setup over a locked-down ecosystem any day.
I'm on my third Redcat crawler now. I love all three.
